Planned Parenthood is doing something I approve of very, very much. They're holding a pledge drive. Y'know, the "pledge $x per y for a period of time." This in itself is not innovative. However...

One of their offices in Pennsylvania is currently getting a lot of picketers/protestors. So, they're doing a "pledge-a-picket!" You sign up to donate $x (as low as 10 cents) per protestor who shows up in the months of October and November. PP tracks these and posts signs outside showing picketers how much money their presence is making for Planned Parenthood!

Link to Planned Parenthood's page.

$.10/protestor, coming their way from me. It's not much, but I know I'll be able to afford it. :)

The thing is, except for things like these picket-a-thon pledges, there's no reason to ever pay any attention to Phelps. He's so insane and so vile that even the craziest of the crazies in the Republican party won't listen to him. I put "Baptist" in the name of his organization in scare quotes because his familiarity with the teachings of the Baptist church, or any church for that matter, seems quite tenuous, but I put "Church" in quotes because it consists almost entirely of his extended family. Phelps only wins if he gets people to pay attention to him.

Pat Robertson, on the other hand, is a real threat.

Pat Robertson isn't a threat. He's a downright catastrophe - and that's coming from a conservative. We were kinda hoping he would go down to Latin America after his threats that way someone down there would deal with him :P

My favorite Robertson quote:
"I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out'."

You say tomato....

The best part about that quote is that it's a lie. He said that "if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think we should go ahead and do it."
