I have been going to Arisia for I believe 6 years, and for the last few I have looked forward specifically to the opportunity to put my hair in the capable hands of [livejournal.com profile] blk, aka SpicyBraids. I like the ability to hand her a wad of money and say, "Please make my hair look awesome," and she does.

This year, she had an idea. She executed that idea. It was FABULOUS. Read more... )

Thank you once again, blk!!!

I was fascinating to a couple of kids on the T this morning. I get on at Porter, and they got on at Harvard with their mother. I had Dog, my netbook, open. The boy, perhaps about nine, pointed and said, "Look mommy! Her laptop is neat!" The mother agreed. This got the girl's attention. She was perhaps six. She whispered something to her mother, who heard and echoed, "You want your hair to reach your waist too?" I tried to not radiate happy too blatantly.

That combined with the elderly, possibly-East-European-but-definitely-accented woman who stopped me in the Corner Mall food court in Downtown Crossing to tell me not to cut off my long, dark, gorgeous hair, makes today a very good day in the follicular department.

This was an amazing Arisia.

I didn't have a night I got to bed before 5, and each morning I had to start my staff shift at 9. A couple of naps Saturday and Sunday evenings supplimented. Glad I'm not driving or operating heavy machinery today.

I didn't go to a single panel. I went to movies and dances, circus performances, and my own performance with Second Shift. I reconnected with old friends and connected for the first time with new ones.

More later as I decompress and discuss. <3

So as I twittered this morning, "I am amazingly happy with my hair these days." Gotta give props to the Lush shampoo bar I've been using; it certainly does the trick. So in a fit of narcissistic hair-playing this morning, I gave myself yet another five-strand Dutch braid, which [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe later commented on unprompted. SCORE!

The point of this post, however, is that Arisia is coming up soon, and Arisia is when [livejournal.com profile] blk (Spicy Braids) braids my hair, and this year, I'm getting a spiral! *bounce of joy*

another spiral by someone else
one more spiral by someone else

*bounce bounce bounce* I can't wait. I just wish I could somehow make it last and stay pretty for longer than just a couple of days.
