The amount to which I am unprepared for Intercon is astonishing. Luckily few people are seriously relying on me for serious stuff, but geez. The things I want to have packed that I don't:

* shoes that aren't winter boots
* shampoo and conditioner
* jewelry
* pajamas
* costuming options rather than what I decided on last-minute to wear for game
* different hairstyle options
* something to wear for the dance

It was such a good idea to only sign up for two games this year. x_x

While apping for 1897 and because I have free time right now, I compiled a list of all the LARPs I have been in. This was only possible due to all of the old Intercon and Festival schedules still being online. There are possibly some gaps with regards to one-offs I don't remember being in, and there is a definite gap in that I went to Intercon Mid-Atlantic some year, but I don't remember which year, and I couldn't find any of their schedules online, so I just have vague memories of two games I played in but nothing more. (It was the year Orgia debuted, I believe.) If you care enough to notice that I didn't remember a game, do let me know. I'll probably go "durr" at myself for forgetting.

Right. So this post is about something stupid and inane when compared to all the stuff I'm dealing with, but hey I get my coping where I get it; as long as I don't completely ignore job-hunting I'm allowed to obsess about a LARP, right?

A lot of random notes and thoughts about Rage Across the Cape, for those who care. )

Hooray, long weekend!

Friday night: just chillin' at BCOS, watching Doctor Who with the folks there. Prepped for Strange Boston.
Saturday day: Strange Boston! Long complicated game was long and complicated. A few fun moments of roleplay, like scaring the dickens out of [livejournal.com profile] witticaster. Oh, and songwriting. ;)
Saturday evening: End of Summer party! A very fun time. Drank and was merry, did a hefty amount of flirting, watched people play with fire.
Sunday day: D&D group got together for not-D&D gaming. Riding bike there and back though not directly led to a surprise 10 mile total for the day. Met [livejournal.com profile] usernamenumber for tea in Harvard Square.
Sunday evening: @ home.
Monday day: Attempted to get to [livejournal.com profile] purpledj and [livejournal.com profile] quish's party. Was thwarted by flat tire but saved by various good Samaritans.
Monday evening: Party. Eventually got home and tried to catch up on internets some. Thus post.

I am nearly booked solid for the next two weeks. Lots going on, including leaving the state multiple times. See you when I see you!

I have learned in the past few days:
1. It's called a "method crush" and is not solely about or attributable to [livejournal.com profile] gower .
2. NASA once discovered that women fart more than men.
3. My voice is more passable than I previously thought.
4. [livejournal.com profile] chaiya  will be Con Chair for Arisia 2011!

I seem to be having this tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle.

You see, there was a portion of this weekend where I was sitting down with some of my best female friends, dishing about boys and the pressures of Western society's expectations of women, and when it was appropriate, we expressed ourselves in song, with minimal self-consciousness and maximum respect for the others when they were singing.

Why can't life do that ALL the time?! It was excellent!

I had an extremely fulfilling experience at this year's FestEvil. Bad times, good times, and lots of really interesting LARP discussion. Heck, lots of really interesting discussion, period!

Of course, I'm a bit sleep deprived, so this is just a short and dirty to remind myself of later:
Fire on High - Communication/expectation mishaps; I could've tried to communicate with GMs more beforehand and figured out some things that would've helped my quandry. Fun being distracted by [livejournal.com profile] rigel though!
A Midsummer Night and the Livin' is Easy - Definitely fun. Must learn that sometimes even character sheets have options; they are not rigidly defined blueprints that must be adhered to (but WHY NOT?! *whine*). When planning epic loud scene, prepare failure modes.
Miskatonic Class Reunion 2000 - Whee Foam Brain! Had tons of fun in this one, mostly running around helping other people with their plots. Not a ton of characterization, but plenty of things to do, which is fine if that's what I'm prepared for.
Welcome to Sunnyvale - Lawl. Scramble porn is great for distracting old men. Knowing whether or not a mechanic is a puzzle to be solved or just random chance is very important to my fun.
Dead Dog - I love The Chateau. Conga! Steve!
Zombie Dog - I need every weekend to have one of these nights. Maybe with a bit more backrubbing. ;)

Huh. Second game in as many weeks that I leave feeling pleasantly positive about. Is [livejournal.com profile] spiritseeker (I think that's the correct LJ name) the key to my LARP enjoyment? ;)

Important thing to remember: running yourself ragged doing fun things is still running yourself ragged. It's not yet 11pm and I am going to bed.

Tonight I had a dinner meeting with folks I will be gaming with in Rage Across the Cape, a new monthly Werewolf LARP I'll be starting Nov 1. Came home and built the character sheet for my character. Also settled on a class/race combo for the D&D 4.0 game I'm joining on Sunday. Yay gaming distractions.
