This is so weird.

So I called OU tech people (325 info) and talked to them about my web page. The guy I talked to said that they had "caught up" to the fact that I was staff (after a year and a half) and now I was listed as staff and there was nothing I could do about it. So I hung up. About half an hour later, I realize that if I'm staff, I can change my directory information. I get on and try and do that but I can't connect, so I call them back. I talk to a different guy now, and after being apprised of the situation, tells me that I -can- be switched back to student status. He wrote down my cell number and is sending a ticket to the appropriate people.

Sigh.

I just hope SOMETHING is resolved. Or maybe like Logan said, it'll just fix itself in a few days. Blah.

I just spent a lot of money from Brendan's computer!

I came over here around 11:30 to show off my new little backpack/purse... it's Harry Potter! It was my splurge purchase at Walmart. I really need a new backpack (the zipper on my current one is broken) and I was looking through them at Walmart. There was one I REALLY loved in style and use of pockets (I need to be able to say, "My calculator will go in this pocket, and my pens in this pocket, and...") but I am kind of looking for a backpack that has a padded laptop area. There was one of those at Walmart, but I didn't like its style and pocket availability.

Whoa, tangent. Anyway, I came over here and everyone except Brooke and Jon were gone to Elk City. I asked if I could get online and they said it was fine, cuz no one else was using it. I got online and updated my budget, then... well the computer sucked me in. I've made some important purchases though.

I found a backpack I -really- liked from jansport.com, but it was $100. Yeah. So I searched around some more, and found a perfect solution to my Walmart backpack problem... a laptop sleeve! I found one that fits my computer for $20.. so I can get the neat Walmart backpack and have a padded case for my laptop to carry around in. Yay solutions!

So then I looked online for textbooks. It was great. I found all but one of my textbooks used for cheap prices (and the one I didn't find is only $9.95 anyway). My discrete math book, instead of being $35, is $25 used from Amazon, Div, Grad, Curl, and All That I found for $8.95 used instead of $26 new (also Amazon), and Revolutionizing the Sciences, one of my History of Sci books, was $8.95 from Half.com instead of $16.95 new. Even adding shipping costs, the books cost less than new. Hooray!

But I stil spent a lot of money. I think I will update my budget one more time with these new expenses, then cry at how much money I'm spending and go home. Well, I think I'll stop at Walmart to get my new backpack first. ;)

So I've been curious as to why my students.ou.edu webpage didn't work. So I checked through the OU search site as to what they said my URL was. Try it. Or just read on.

http://FACULTY-STAFF.ou.edu/blahblah

What the hell? When did that happen? More importantly, HOW DO I CHANGE IT BACK? None of my pictures work, I guess from how I point to them in the html. I don't know who to contact about this, but it really weirds me out. Not only that, but I'm listed as a temporary employee, whereas Waylon gets to be a Student Labratory Assistant. *sniffle*

So anyway, if anyone knows who I should be contacting about this, please tell. I want to be a student again :(

So Chris and I are sitting here at work. I didn't update yesterday because LJ was being a bitch again. I guess I should've checked more than once. The phones are pretty busy, but that's expected cuz it's a Wednesday. Chris took a call. :)

So I'm spending tons of money lately, on important things. Yesterday morning I finally paid for my independent study course. Goldbug, is there one other book for the class that you didn't tell me about? I got the study guide but I don't have any actual lessons, which they say are from the Student Study Guide for Perspectives in Nutrition, 3rd Ed. I can't find it online anywhere (Amazon doesn't have 3rd Ed. and Barnes and Noble doesn't have it in stock) so I guess I'll have to go back and buy it. I've bought 2 of my textbooks, for $50, and my car got an oil change, and today I'm paying rent, and tomorrow I'm getting fillings. I'm going to spend like $1000 in a week. That's amazing.

Luckily there's the yard sale to give me some extra money. For those of you who haven't heard, I priced and labeled and notated all my stuff, and if I sell it all I'll make $157! The most amazing thing is the number of pants and shorts that have existed in my room that I don't wear and intend to sell - THIRTY-SEVEN. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. 37 pairs of pants/shorts that I "owned" and never wore (or have grown out of, I'm selling a lot of those). Of course, a lot of those were things I always thought I would wear again. =P

I thought I had more to write, so if it comes to me I'll just post again. Adios for now.

The work day is almost over! Chris just left. It was a good day. We talked about stuff and I showed him around and he listened to me on the phone a bit. He knows a little more about Macs than I do.

AOL IM suddenly works again! Maybe I was using the wrong version before. I downloaded the Power PC version and I'm back online! So now I have IM and ICQ at work. Ahhh, chat.

I bought textbooks today. I bought 3 of them online from efollett, used, because even buying them and paying for shipping was cheaper than buying them new from the OU bookstore.

Well, I made an A in linear, which is happy. Woo. In other news, according to eFollett.com, if I order all of my books from them used, books will cost me $201 this year. However, I believe that I have one of the books already (for p. math) from goldbug, and I bet Brendan or someone can lend me the Intro the Electrodynamics book for E&M. Those are easily the most expensive books ($71 and $67 respectively, used) so hopefully that will work out. :)

Well I just changed around next fall's schedule to make it more feasable for me to work and save money for the next semester. Here's how it is now:

M/W/F 8:30-9:20
Physical Math. Borrowed the books from Goldbug, so I hope they're still using the same books! I hope linear algebra helps me here.

M/W/F 9:30-10:20
History of Science to Newton
I'll be taking this with Logan, for Letters history credit (which I currently have none of). Dunno what to expect from it.

M/W/F 10:30-11:20
Electricity & Magnetism 1
SCARY. Taking this because Physical Mechanics really sucked my work schedule, but I'm deathly afraid of this class. I was never good at E&M before and this class is supposed to be hard. I'll be taking it with Karen, which will be good I hope. Also emailed the prof a few minutes ago asking her what math I need to review before the class (Brendan warned me). Might be a big Juldea Stressmaker in a few months.

T/R 10:30-12:00
German Conversation and Composition
Not the German class I wanted to take, but maybe I'll speak it better after I'm done. I hope there's not a lot of writing, but it does have composition in the title...

The math and E&M class will finish a physics minor for me. The others are for Letters.
Oh, it'll be 12 hours, for those who care.

I've noticed that when I write long journal entries, no one replies. Do you guys even read them?

The scholars office says that they can hold my tuition waiver if I ask, so that problem is taken care of.

Jim (my boss) thinks that it would be cool if Ty came back to work the help line for the 5 months I'm gone (if I go). I think that would work because I'm rather sure Ty wouldn't cling to the position and refuse to give it up when I came back. So maybe Ty should read this and think about it.

I woke up before my alarm today, at about 6:50 (alarm was set for 7:30), even though I went to bed near 2:00. I didn't even have anything important I needed to do, besides exercise! I guess I'm just full of energy these days.

I brought my CD walkman to work today and am listening to the Rent soundtrack while there are no calls. Not so loud that I can't hear the phone ring, though. Although I keep catching myself singing out loud and I wonder if other people hear me.

Saxon is going nazi and are going to start regulating piercings (none showing) and dress code (not sure what they're going to do here, but I'm sure it'll be something dumb). Sigh. Who sees me as I answer the phone?

I hope I'm being kissed and snuggled in 2 weeks.

Someone tell me the flaws in this, please, because it's just TOO perfect:

Goldbug is returning to Norman in December, right? But she does not yet have a place to live. I am interested in taking the next semester off, starting in January, yet I don't want to move out of my apartment because I want to return to it after that.

See it yet?

Goldbug can move in with me for a couple of weeks while I'm still here, and then fully take the apartment while I'm gone in the spring... And then when summer rolls around we can figure out what to do ;) Burn that bridge when we come to it, so to speak.

Only problem I can think of is the apartment people saying "she's not enrolled, let's kick her out," yet they didn't do so with Ty... It seems like it takes them a while to realize someone isn't a student anymore, heh. Maybe I should ask big Karen if I take a semester off to work but plan on coming back after that, if I would have to move out? I wouldn't tell her anything about leaving the city or anything, just not enrolling that semester.... *ponder* Or maybe if I do a correspondence course during that time...?

Other than that, it sounds like a great plan! Oh I am getting so happy about this!
