No, I haven't seen a new episode in a long time. TV just isn't something I generally spend my time on. Perhaps if it were visible from my computer/room like yours is. ;)
I think I'd be disappointed if Smithers wasn't one of the two characters--but you need two to make a wedding.
Pulling a guess completely out of the air, I think Smithers and Principal Skinner would make a cute couple. And, after all, Burns can't live forever, can he? :-)
Watching the Simpsons these days is like talking to a dearly beloved grandfather with Alzheimer's. He looks basically the same, but there's something missing, and it makes you mourn.
I mean, I guess I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but in my experience, any recent Simpsons has become painful to watch.
