Today I went to Johara's intermediate level bellydance class. Before attending the class, I was very very excited. I was exclaiming, "I'm going to bellydance!" After attending the class, I was very disappointed. And the fact that I was disappointed made me very sad. Back to square, well, two now, I guess.

Also disappointing: it's been about two years since I've seen myself bellydancing in a mirror in a classroom setting. There's noticably more of me in the mirror now. *sigh*

Tonight's food experiment brought to you by the thought, "Hey, I have this mango..."

Also: I have no clue if I'm supposed to be at work tomorrow. When I left I told a co-worker, "See you tomorrow," and he said, "No, see you Monday!" At the time I assumed he was taking tomorrow off. Since then I have heard mention that tomorrow is a mourning holiday. I, however, do not have the phone number of anyone to call and ask. I suppose I will just get up and go, and if I get to turn around and head right back home, well, good for me.

i know that tomorrow in oklahoma the post offices are closed and i think the courts and municipal offices too.
it'd be great if you got a PAID holiday.
and maybe you could call the general hospital number and get some info or get transferred to someone who knows what's up...it's late now...but in the morning before you leave.

this afternoon i saw a girl dressed in bellydance garb walking along the street, and i thought of you.

Walking down the street in plain view in bellydance gear? Was she wearing a coverup? If not then BAD her! Against the rules! ;)

well, she wasn't very revealing-looking, but neither was she covered in one of those caftan-like cover-ups.

Those are what you're supposed to wear if you're not on stage at the time. ;)

I don't know about anyone else but I'll be working tomorrow. The only thing this holiday has done so far is get me my pay early and cause a few people I know some hassels.

Why were you disappointed with the class?

I was confused, too. It's a holiday because of Reagan's funeral. Apparently it's always a holiday when former Presidents die. I didn't know either.

Yeah, I guess I kind of didn't notice when Nixon died in 1994 whether there was a holiday or not.... I guess there was?....

Oh, I'd forgotten all about that. I was a freshman in high school -- I think I would have remembered getting a holiday! Maybe it's up to the discretion of the current President.

Yeah, I had a food experiment tonight, brought to you by "Whoa, I didn't know there was such a thing as Cream of SHRIMP soup..." with an afterthought of "Maybe I'll use Vanilla Rice Dream instead of regular milk to reconstitute the soup..." This ended up going down the drain in its entirety, save one lonely spoonful chillin' in my stomach.

Even if my office did observe the Reagan holiday, I would go into work out of spite.
