juldea: (sleepy)

Ugh. New sleep schedule time. Wake up at 5:30, shower, call boyfriend, leave for work by 7, get there by 8, take lunch from 12-1, leave at 5, get home around 6, do stuff, go to bed at 10-10:30. Seven hours of sleep is enough, right? I'll learn to think so.

This place is alright. EVERYONE there is old, and by that I mean grey-haired. At least 50. And I mean everyone. There wasn't a young face to be seen. But they're nice. The office is in the scary dead basement of the hospital, amongst piles of old beds and IV carts. Well okay, they're out in the hall and I'm in an office, but still.

I dunno. I just feel so ... claustrophobic, in a more than physical sense, in there. I don't understand how people can live spending so much of their time chained to a desk indoors. Then again, I know how hard it is to live spending so little of your life not doing so, since that's what work seems to mean these days... being behind a desk. Does everyone at 24 think, "There's no way I can do this, it's not for me?"

And why do I think that, when what I do when I come home is sit down at my computer desk?

Ponderous. And pretty depressing.

And now time for a late-night grocery run!

I'm sort of learning to like my desk job. I have some young people around, which helps. I think with any new situation there is always a period of adjustment.

Don't you miss getting to walk around campus? I know I do. Work is so much more claustrophobic.

Yeah, I imagine that having anyone else around my age would help a LOT. My last job, the part-time one, was very enjoyable because of the other temp who sat behind me and was just a couple years older than me. We talked about bellydancing and life, and I have her email now so we can keep in touch. :)

Also - sometimes I do get to walk around the Hospital, or even the Medical University campus right next door. That helps a lot. Although it makes it even worse when I have to go back underground away from the sun... :(
