Speaking of gay marriage... Simpsons fans, have you seen this?

Who do you think it is?

Last night at Melville Keep, the home of [livejournal.com profile] alexx_kay and [livejournal.com profile] kestrell (et al), I saw two new-to-me movies that I simply must share with others.

The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is an amazingly hilarious parody of 50s-60s sci-fi B movies. The writing, direction, and acting are spot-on. The movie balances itself perfectly on the fine line between taking itself too seriously and being so absurd of a parody that it loses connection with its source material. I would definitely recommend this movie to fans of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The Tall Blonde Man with One Black Shoe was awesome and I want a copy ([livejournal.com profile] gyzki, how do you feel about lending it out for VHS copying?). It's a French comedy about a random John Doe who gets caught between two rivalling factions of the French secret service. It's amazingly clever. And, it has a Dress. I can't describe The Dress; you must see The Dress. And yes, you will absolutely know it when you see it. If you can't find a copy of this movie anywhere, well, you'll see The Dress when I make a copy of it. ;)

Movie night cost me a couple hours of sleep, but it was so worth it.

Crap, I actually missed it by a day. I really thought it was the 5th that was my Massaversary...

So yeah, like [livejournal.com profile] rufinia's recent post, approximately one year ago (earrrrrly morning on Monday, August 4) I drove into Boston in a half-packed Penske moving van. The mudder/friend Kwin sat next to me and kept me awake during the drive, and Jim beat me home since his VW could go faster than the moving van (we had all left the OMP together).

I think I've had a pretty good year. Made some mistakes (mostly monetarily), but nothing that has royally ruined my life. In fact, I'd say I'm doing pretty well and happy. *bounce*

Thanks to all the friends, old and new, who have been a part of my life in the past year!

I am 48.52071% geeky - a super geek. I did exaggerate some of the test... :)

Yay for the marching band references!

It occurs to me that I deserve at least three bonus points on the previously-posted geek test:

1. I have mp3s of songs I played in band in high school/college, and still sing along to my part.
2. I respond in person to my mud character's name.
3. I have attended every single OMP except for the first, which was held when my character was ~2 weeks old.
