juldea: (99 Mooninites)

I just wrote a LJ post in detail, and even with a cut and multiple warnings as to the content described therein, I ended up not feeling it was sharable and privatized it for later reference. I will instead say this: the vomiting portion of food poisoning is done, but not the other reactions, and they in fact have increased in intensity in the past six hours (during which I have tried to sleep) so much that I might be taking myself to the hospital - if I can find a point at which I can leave the house a building for the length of time to get there.

EDIT: I called the doctor's office and spoke to a nurse, and they have fit me in for an 11:00 appointment (that's in less than an hour). My clinic is quite happily closer than the hospital.

If you feel that you haven't the strength to get to the hospital, it's time to call 911. Seriously.

It's not the strength I'm lacking, it's the ability to be away from a restroom.

Well there is that. And that can lead to dangerous levels of dehydration. I guess my major concern is that you don't get into a state in which you are too sick to get the medical attention you need.

I just got a call back from my doctor's office - which is happily about three blocks away - and they are fitting me in at 11, in an hour. Relief!

I am very worried about dehydration, yeah. I have water and gatorade, but they also don't seem to be staying in long enough to be absorbed. Hopefully the doctor can fix this.

Dude, that sucks. I'm sorry. Immodium might do the trick? Or diapers? Just for long enough to get there, I mean.

I hope you're drinking copious amounts of fluids, dear.

I began Immodium last night, and since then things have gotten worse. (Before I would describe things as mild/moderate, and now they are SEVERE.) I don't know if it's a reaction or just the timing of things.

I understand completely. I was tied to the bathroom for quite a while yesterday - unfortunately, it started while we were at a restaurant with friends. :( I finally got to the point where I figured I could make it 1/2 hour or so, just to get home.

Honestly, though, if the symptoms are severe enough that you want to go to the hospital, and frequent enough that you can't leave the house - call 911.
