Hrm. I have myself in a bit of a corner. I'm supposed to be in a LARP this weekend, Friday through Sunday, at Brandeis, but:
  • I haven't read any of the game docs yet, not even my character sheet.
  • I don't have anything resembling a costume, especially a mask, which is necessary.
  • I don't have crash space at game site (Brandeis/Waltham), which means I'd have to commute home every night via the 70/70A bus or the commuter rail.
  • I won't even get there Friday until quite late, 9pm or later.
  • I have almost no money over rent, which is due at the end of the week, and gaming generally involves going out to eat.
  • While excited about the cool people who are signed up for the game and the cool people running it, I don't actually have much excitement about the game itself, or gaming this weekend in general.

I really don't want to drop this game 32 days before it runs, especially since I think [livejournal.com profile] zrealm and his crew are awesome and don't deserve crappy players who punt. And I really do want to hang out with some of you other awesome folks. But I'm just not prepared, at all, and I don't know that working 12-8 for the next two days really gives me the option to prepare for game... and there's the money issue. Bleh.

    Hrm...

well I don't know what I can say about this. We can help with a few of these things - we can probably still find you crash space, showing up on 9pm on friday is ok, and we have a few extra masks. Obviously I can't create time or money so there's not as much I can do about the other things :(

We'd very much miss you if you didn't play - we enjoy you as a player, and we'll have to scramble to find someone to replace you. Having said that, of course, we obviously can't force you to play if you don't want to - this is a decision you have to make for yourself.

If I wanted to go through you guys for crash space, I would have already. Trying to sleep at the house of someone I don't know that well is even worse that coming home every day; I muchly prefer coming home, it's just time- and money-consuming.

Good to know you have extra masks, though. Although I was thinking, does tying some fabric around your face like a veil or a ninja mask count? I have tons of random fabric.

Ah, true - I was only trying to be helpful.

Yes, tying some fabric around your face is fine too.

I know, and I appreciate your attempts to help, since I'm sure you read my post and said to yourself, "Wtf? We've been TELLING people that if they need crash space, to tell us! Why is she complaining about it now?" So sorry for that confusion. :)

And yay, that solves that problem.

That would be very sad, indeed. Some of these issues I can help you out with. Let me know if you decide to come.

    With what can you help?

Masks I can provide (although mine is modified random fabric, so if you go with that plan you won't be the only one there). I'm also staying at the Marriott Newton, which is rather closer to Brandeis than your place, and you are welcome to crash there, and I'll have my car available, so I can shuttle back and forth (its about 5-10 minutes each way). Finally, I can spot you meals without any real difficulty.

So let me know if you choose to come, and in what ways you could make use of my assistance.

Hey, I just realized, I have created some drama for you! Without even thinking about it.

Looks like I've got the mask thing covered, now. As for the crash space, as I said above to [livejournal.com profile] zrealm, it's less that I want crash space as I want to be able to get home easier: the commuter rail is fairly close but has an infrequent schedule and costs money; the bus line that goes straight to my neighborhood is walkable but further away, also doesn't have the best schedule, but is for all intents and purposes free as I have a pass. So really at this point I'm just being whiny about having to walk in the cold to the bus stop to get home. ;)

That said, if you really can help me out with, say, wherever we all go out to eat for Dead Dog, I would really appreciate it. That's the meal I'm really concerned about, since Dead Dogs seem to be at Real Restaurants and not junk food. ;)

    Thank you.
