Update on life, since [livejournal.com profile] violeteye poked at me for one. ;)

I have lost 27 pounds since October and fit into size 12 pants. Yay, me.

Health-wise, however, I am farked. I'm a slave to precription painkillers right now because not taking them leaves me in enough pain for immobility and tears. Something went wrong from the cellulitis, it got into my hip joint, doctors are clueless. I just got my MRI scheduling in the mail today; it'll be on Sunday the 30th, which is odd, but ok. I'll just need to get those painkillers renewed before then.

Have added a Wednesday evening D&D game to my schedule, so now I have a commitment every night-before-a-work-day (Sun-Thu). That said, due to the previous paragraph, I think for the next month at least I'm going to forego dance classes. I've just been going and watching them instead of participating, and that's a lot of money to be spending on observation.

Still dating/living with [livejournal.com profile] londo. ♥ We recently moved to Cambridge and our apartment needs some serious work. Maybe once I free up those dance nights.

Work is boring and sucky. I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of .txt/.html novels from [livejournal.com profile] tpau to read.

Hrm. Does that sum everything up?

Yucky on the hip! I hope they're able to figure out what's wrong and how to fix it.

(I don't know if this will come up, but if they offer cortisone injections, consider it carefully. The injection itself hurts like HELL, and they have to keep doing it, and it gets less effective for each injection. When they gave me one for my wrist, the first one hlped a lot, once I healed from the injection, for a few months... the second one for a few weeks. I didn't bother getting a third.)

I don't think it's going to be offered, considering this all started from a bacterial infection that came back at least once, and cortisone is well known as an immune suppr... But yeah, if it's available, you're not the first person to suggest it to me!

I'm just saying if it's offered, it's not the godsend they might make it out to be. I'd send your to Barry the Miracle Worker, but I doubt muscular therepy is going to be useful at this point.

I might need him after all this clears up, with how I've had to compensate for the pain... :P

I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of .txt/.html novels

I've got a few hundred knocking around my hard drive at home, and [livejournal.com profile] kestrell makes me look like an amateur. If I haven't sent you anything in the next few days, remind me to do so :)

oh geez, oh wow. I need to come over sometime and just get a hard drive dump :)

Well, I certainly won't argue with the idea of your coming over any time!

But one of the advantages of e-books with no DRM is that they are easily small enough to email lots of them :-)

Sent last night. Did you get them?

I did get the whole thing at work, but it seems like the whole file didn't download at home now that I have the two to compare to. I'm going to try again (hooray for yousendit and it's multiple download availabilities!)

What I saw made me VERY happy. Thank you!!

Argh, how weird... I redownloaded it at home and still am not getting all of the same files I got when I downloaded it at work! It's not a space issue, I have 10G free on this drive... *confused*

Are you using the same unzip program?

The file I made was kind of weird in some ways. My first attempt was (I thought, incorrectly) too big for YuSendIt, so I kept deleting big chunks of the files from within the zip. That could do strange things to the internal structure, I suppose...

Hrm. Well, at work I have Win2000, here I have XP... Let me see what happens when I use winrar to unzip it here, and not just let XP think it's a folder...

...yes, THAT seemed to work. Wonderful! Oh hey, those Amber books I was recommended to read....

Zelazny was a God among authors, and the Amber books rule, of course I did take my main 3K name from them

Yuck. I've been wondering about the details I've been missing also, having only gathered part of the story so far by reading here. That needs a hug but I'm some distance away, so have an ASCII one. *hug*

Cellulitis seems like it would be set off by rolling around while asleep, which was a problem when two of my ribs were broken years ago (and I don't use painkillers). I imagine they're keeping you from hurting yourself while sleeping, since I constantly woke up.

And congratulations on the weight loss - I know it's bugged you. Remember that it's health that's important, and health that's attractive. So do you feel better (physically) now? Good then.

Jacob

Jacob! <3! I swear I've tried to hail you on AIM a few times in the past year and never gotten a response. :( Glad to see you're alive and well. *hugs back*

Since you said something, perhaps I will make up a timeline of however this injury has come to be, so that people can have the full picture. It's been very odd. It is certainly not cellulitis anymore - nothing going on with the surface skin, at least, and whatever it is is doesn't respond to antibiotics. :P

As for the weight thing - I think the last time you saw me I weighed right about what I do now, and if not, I weighed less, so yeah - I was at a point where it bugged me more, and health-wise, too. I am feeling better now, except for the stupid hip. :P And believe me, [livejournal.com profile] londo would intervene quickly if I showed signs of losing weight unhealthily.

Well crap I'm sorry. :( I don't remember... oh wait, <grep> remembers for me. Yeah I'm sorry, I'm not sure what happened there maybe I closed it or it died before I saw them.

Oh boy.

Quick! Quick with the ice cream treatment, get the funnel we need this ice cream in her now!

You haven't even peeked at the directories on the laptop I lent [livejournal.com profile] londo, have you?

Look under either my docs/ or my docs/kurzweil/ ...there should be a thousand or two etexts on there, most of them will be .txt. The folder names are not always very descriptive, sorry *desperately wondering if there is a directory titled "erotica" on that computer and if so, what specifically is in it other than "NaziNuns.txt"*.

When you run out, get back to me, I have more.

Posted by [identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com
I haven't! I wonder if it would have eventually occurred to me? I will definitely raid it for reading material.

Did you want me to confirm for you whether or not there's erotica on there? ;) (I can also avoid looking at all, if it is something you'd rather I not see. Heh.)

I'm only vaguely curious, but I think I was using that laptop before I instigated my own directory names. So basically, I think the best descriptions you will get on that laptop is "ebooks" or "oreilly"--I would suggest you check out the directory named "ebooks" though, as your best bet for frivolity.
