news of the now
4 April 2006 22:52It was brought to my attention that I haven't really updated in a while... so I'll put off bedtime for another 30 minutes and catch up here.
FIRST OFF, LJ reading: Hasn't been done in weeks. I skim a page or two when I have the time, but I really need to get more of that. Messages to me should be going in email these days...
Work: Is busy and stressful and full of much repressed dislike. But it pays. *sigh* So I got promoted, and then I got a lateral transfer, so right now I am being asked to assist with THREE different jobs because the temp admin assistant doesn't know things as well as I did, plus I was working in the intermediate job for a while and they haven't hired a body to take that actual job, and the job I'll end up in they want me to be doing all the time but recognize that I do have to spend some time on the other stuff. That's the problem, each position thinks that it can be the main source of work, and the others can have me some amount of the time. I'm pulled in three directions at once. Grr!
Home: Way behind on keeping up with housework; another stressor. I'm the type of person who does actually get affected by the tidiness of their surroundings - to some extent. I'm sure my ex-roommates and landlords and such will note that I'm not a neat freak. Although perhaps if I were, I'd be happier. ;) As it is, things have piled up (literally!) and I need to take some time and just GO AT IT, only most of the time I'm home I'm exhausted because of work stress and this doesn't get done.
Knitting: The end of Eris is nigh! Maybe I can plow through it this weekend. Stay tuned for pictures.
Dancing: I tried out for a dance troupe, Sarab, and was accepted. First practice was earlier tonight, in fact. The atmosphere of the class is so different than my other class. I feel it's happy, and open, and I can talk to the other dancers without feeling awkward. I don't know what to pinpoint this on other than in this class, since the focus is on learning choreography and not improvising, I pwn everyone, whereas in the other I am awkward and embarrassed. Sigh. I have prepaid for the other so I have to stick with it throughout the next month, but beyond that I don't know if I'll be doing both. Plus, all the shows I have this month are through that other class - you should show up at them!
Weight Watchers: As of last Thursday, down 17.4 pounds. Had to buy new pants! Hopefully will hit my 10% goal this week - next week at the latest, assuming I don't mess anything up. *crosses fingers* The good news here (which ties in with the above paragraph) is that one of my old dance costumes now fits again, giving me more clothing options for shows. Wewt.
Relationship:
londo is asleep in bed right now, but soon I will join him and cuddling will commence. Things are going well.
learnedax continues to deserve praise.
Other socialness: Hard to work, but I'm trying. Went to a movie night at Melville Keep last Friday; saw
alexx_kay,
kestrell,
corwyn_ap,
redknight, and others who might or might not have LJs. Saw Free Enterprise for the first time, which was enjoyable if puzzling. Puzzling because it was enjoyable, I think. I tend not to enjoy that kind of ... conflict-less(?) storytelling. Couldn't stand The Catcher In the Rye. "Here's two days of this guy's life, where some stuff happens, but there's no particular climax." So yeah. Otherwise, I see
tpau often enough because of Weight Watchers, and this weekend there's a Crossroads game where I will see many others (
getoffended and
rmoonsong amongst them.) If you'd like to steal a piece of my time, I'd probably love to but already have that day booked. Please request time in advance. :P
Anything I've left off here, I've probably done because it belongs in a post that is locked to some extent or another. If you have a burning desire to know something, email me. ;)
And now, off to bed!
