juldea: (knitting)

I finished Soleil!
The only negative - it is too large. It's supposed to be negative ease, and instead it has... MANY inches. Feh. That's what I get for not using the recommended yarn, I guess. And... well yes... my gauge magically changed somewhere above the lacework, and I didn't stop to check. SILLY ME. Ah well, I've only been knitting for a year and a half or so... I'm allowed to still make mistakes. :P

It is 100% cotton, too, so I will do some adventures in shrinkage. And if it doesn't fit after that... well, I totally have enough of the yarn to make another for me in a smaller size, and anyone reading who is larger than me and wants this one, make a claim. ;)

Pictures here.

If the shrinking doesn't fail, sure! It'll be like paying for my top. ;) (Um, are you free tonight? You could come over while I DJ (since you've been wanting to see that) and could bring me my top.)

Dude, cotton shrinks. Not as much as wool, yes, but it's well known that if you get a cotton t-shirt and you wash it in hot water and dry it at hot temps, it'll shrink.

I've got Crossroads this weekend, so I'll be all packed Fri-Sun, and will probably be busy Mon with laundry and stuff. Although feasibly we can still do stuff.

It's so cute! And a flattering shape, too. :-) It will probably be 100% perfect after you wash it.

You don't need to know about knitting to know how fabric works. :) Cotton shrinks, it's a fact of life! (I just hope that, since this is yarn that I recycled from a Salvation Army sweater, it isn't already pre-shrunk.)
