V For Vendetta
23 August 2005 11:33Perhaps the reason I'm so enraged about the below is that I finished V for Vendetta last night. Fucking fabulous. Amazing. I'll be reading it over again and again before
tpau wrenches it from my hands... okay, maybe not quite that much, but certainly once more through.
Now that I've read it, I watched the trailer... Natalie Portman, I think, will probably end up being a good choice. Certain bits of it are certainly making me grin when thinking of her involved. The rest... I just really hope they do a good job of it. From what I've seen, though, the movie isn't displaying the politicians and policemen as "real people" as well as the book did. Too many uniforms.
Anyway. Great novel. Has totally spurred my anarchist side into action. (Remember, folks, anarchy != chaos.)

on 23 Aug 2005 20:02 (UTC)Unf. The sheer ... I don't even konw the word, but having that quote, which starts with ALL Vs - be used by V... That just makes me want to go have Alan Moore's babies.
Showing V's face would be Bad. Having just finished my first run of it, I am of course wondering if his identity IS one that is detectable, someone casually mentioned somewhere in the storyline... But I am very glad that in the book, the mystery of all of that was kept.
The idea of Portman doing her final scene (don't worry, folks! no spoilers here! all I will say is "final scene!") makes me squeal with girlish delight.

on 23 Aug 2005 20:22 (UTC)To be honest, I never really wodnered abotu V's identity. I always assuemd he was pretty much nobody, just a random person caught up in something and transformed by his circumstances into a force of nature, so to speak. That always struck me as more in keeping with Moore's point then anything else, but I dunno.
I fear.
(and yes, that quote gave me shivers when I first read it)
