playing catchup
8 August 2005 01:19It has been a while since I have really posted here. I guess that, since I moved in with
londo, I have someone to rant at and don't feel like I need to say things here as much. Hmm. I hadn't actually thought about it like that. There's also the fact that I've been stressed out by a lot of things in the past month, what with the moving and the road trip and the wisdom teeth/dry socket and lots of other smaller things that all add up.
Since I can't sleep tonight (because I let myself sleep in WAY too late this afternoon) and londo has already drifted off, I've decided to spend some time filling you in on what's been going on in my life and head!
Living with londo has been... interesting. In the past month, I'm learned him well enough to know that I don't know him as well as I thought. Which is not a bad thing! Just means that living together is more work than I had expected. But, y'know, worth it.
Speaking of work, I don't know how to explain it, but actual work has gotten more hectic too. I haven't gotten anything new to do, but somehow all the stuff that I've always done has slightly increased such that my workload as a whole keeps me just that much more busy than I had been. This upcoming week will be fun; I'm taking off Thursday and Friday for the DCI Championships, so I need to make sure that everything is set to run smoothly when I'm gone.
Oh yes, the Championships! I ended up buying solo tickets since I couldn't find a attendance partner, so now my issue is with getting there. It's in Foxboro, about an hour away, and I don't have a car... The parking fee is $25 a night, so renting a car and driving myself would be prohibitively expensive.
udalrich has given me a key to his car to use while he's off at Pennsic, but it's a manual and I'm pretty apprehensive about driving one of those after so long. I'll give it the ol' college try, I suppose... And if that doesn't work out, I can go with my original plan of taking the commuter rail to one of the closer stops and then hailing a taxi to the stadium. I just imagine that that would mean I'd have to leave early in order to catch the last train back to Boston. :(
OU still hasn't sent me a copy of my transcript. I'm going to re-fax my request tomorrow at work. I wasn't able to find my copy of it here at home so I'll just redo it... However, I think that I have probably missed my opportunity to make it to the September class session. :( This gives me more time to figure out how to afford it, however.
Also, I'm coming up on my one-year review at work, so perhaps I'll get a raise? That'd be nice.
The cats are not allowed in the bedroom, and that's where londo and I spend most of our time (because the computers are in here, you dirty-minded people!), so I don't get to spend as much time with them as I used to. londo and I recently got the TV system set up and the couch down on the floor, though, so in the past week I have spent more time in the living room and made sure that I pet cats during a lot of it. :) Soon the weather will cool off again, and I will no longer feel confined to the bedroom for its A/C. I should see how well my laptop is working, too, so that I can pull it out into the living room with me and not be confined to the bedroom as much.
Still working on the Soleil top, but making pretty fast progress on it. I really shouldn't be allowed to start on new projects, though, when I have SO MANY sitting around waiting to be finished...
My dad retires in October. He's having a big ceremony and wants both me to bring londo along. This will be Big and Important, as londo still hasn't met any of my family... and now he'll do so in a very official military setup. I think he's frightened of it. ;) But really, it'll be fine as long as he doesn't wear a tie-dyed t-shirt to the ceremony. ;) I'm excited about the whole thing, since I'll see my dad, his wife, BOTH my brothers, my sister-in-law, my grandfather, probably my sister and brother-in-law... A big slew of relatives all at once. Fun.
Of course, since I was unable to do my trip to Oklahoma/Michigan that was going to happen RIGHT NOW, I still need to schedule some time to go out to Oklahoma. Some time when
goldbug is in town. ;)
Bellydance classes start back up in September. I'll only be doing one night this time around... Mondays. I need to do something about my mindset towards it though. Figure out exactly what I want from dancing. Especially since the instructor will probably be hammering at my problems... Oh, and I still have that costume on layaway, even though I haven't made a payment on it in months. I should probably figure out what's up with that. I emailed them once but didn't receive an answer... :P
2am, still up. I'm going to be miserable tomorrow. At least I don't have anything to do in the evening and can go to bed soon after getting home.
My teeth - or rather, the holes where I am now lacking teeth are still bothering me. Even discounting Jimmy the Dry Socket, there's something about the one on my lower right side that consistently makes me feel like I have a piece of food stuck between teeth back there. Perhaps it's a piece of the stitching that's sitting wrong on my gums? I dunno. As far as Jimmy goes, I will be glad to have him re-stuffed tomorrow. The nice-tasting filling has lost its flavor, and even begun to taste kinda icky again... I hope it's not failing to heal. :-\ Ah well, I'll find out in... 6ish hours.
The next two weeks will be interesting... many of my friends are off at Pennsic. Hope you're having fun, guys!
Well, this entry has sat for a good 45 minutes now not being added to, so I think I'll finish it off.

on 8 Aug 2005 15:21 (UTC)Driving to Foxboro: really really preferable; public transit is non-existant down there. However, the highways near there are driven at like 75-80 and by morons, so watch yourself...
