I find the concept that my preferences and views make me "less American" than others to be rather un-American. I was born here, and I've lived much (but not all) of my life here. I won't cede some sort of patriotic high ground to others simply because they have more common tastes.
Oh, I imagine that's so. But with some of the idiotic pseudo-patriots around, these days, I don't want to pander to their narrow world view, and reinforce the notion that they are the "true" Americans.
