I need to re-dye my skirt black and put a ribbon into the top of my chemise, so I can wear them to the Palio. Those, made from cotton, with a bodice seem (correct me if I'm wrong) better for hot weather wear than thick long-sleeved dresses.

cotton is much better than a thick long sleeved dress. You'll stay much cooler. I've always found silk to be the coolest as long as its loose and flowing though :)

Byzantine, though I like it, is even further from the theme than Roman... Not that I actually expect that many people to garb theme-appropriate. Have to warm them up to the idea slowly...

::sighs::

Yes, and stuff that fits the theme might have people passing out during the day. I am changing into late period shit for the evening. As are otehr people. The reason I offered ROmans to Moomba is so people wouldn't die, and it was still geographically appropriate. Also, as Jehan pointed out, the Renaissance, especially in Italy, was highly fascinated by Classical things.

Also, not everyne is able or willing to make new stuff just for one event. Not everyone has a lot of garb to choose from. I am making Julia a Byzantine to add to her still pretty small stash of garb that would be a lot more suited to hot weather than most of her other stuff. In short, get over it.
