First, watch:

Then, read.

I teared up. *sniff* My Firefly!

Not sure about River becoming Trinity, however. We'll see how that goes.

<3 Wash

I saw hide nor hair of Book...

Yay! More Firefly.

Yeah, the actions scenes with River were a bit odd, but then she's demonstrated competence at killing in the past, when needed.

Book is listed in the credits on IMDB. I'm a bit disappointed that they're rewriting some of the history - as if the show wasn't canonical. Then again, I suppose part of the point of the movie is to spread the goodness to those that missed the show.

I don't think they are. Or rather, I don't think that the trailer is giving us the full story. For example, sound in space, but that might just be because it's a trailer.

Yay!

What leads you to think that they're rewriting history? I didn't see anything in the trailer that indicated that. Well, I do note that the Preview says at one point "SIX REBELS", which I guess means that the people writing the Preview text don't count Simon, River, and Book as crew members. Whether the actual movie does, of course, remains to be seen.

IMDB isn't always definitive. My guess is that Book will be there, but only for a bit near the beginning and/or end. I suspect that if he were present for the events of this movie, his (still unrevealed) backstory would... complicate matters a mite much.

While going through it a second time, slowly, I noticed that Wash still has his dinosaurs :-)

Regarding River: It's not like "girl with special powers gets trained to become an assassin" is a trope that Joss is uncomfortable with. He's used it explicitly at least twice, and suggested it on several other occasions. Heck, given a bit of a squint, Vampire Slayers fit that pattern.

Not so much re-writing it, as re-visiting it. It looks from the trailer (though it might just be my impression), that they're doing the Simon and River join the ship part that was done in the pilot. I'd be happy to be wrong about this, and have them pick up some point after the show ended.

nope...not from what I'm aware...it takes place after the tv show and they're going to have comics to bridge the time gap in between.

Part of the problem is that they can't *just* cater to the fans...they also have to try to get new people in who don't know *anything* about the tv show, so if they revisit a *little* I'm okay with that.

Yeah, but that's partially why I'm uncomfortable with it. I have high regard for Joss; I assume he could find something more out of the ordinary to do with her.

Although, as [livejournal.com profile] karlean7 said, it means Summer Glau can use her ballet skills. ;)

Speaking of Summer and her ballet skills, have you gotten around to Angel season 3, "Waiting in the Wings" yet? The commentary track talks about Summer a lot. (And the "deleted scene" is NOT to be missed!)

I have, actually, just a week or two ago. Londo and I were going, "Where in the world have we seen her before?!?" until she opened her mouth. ;)

Wait, so I have a question...

The bad gang of people is called the Empire and the good gang of people is called the Alliance?

If so, I smell class-action lawsuit.

No, the Alliance is bad. The good guys are the rebels aka Browncoats.

Ah, misleading then.

I heard "Empire" in that preview and I heard "Alliance".

Okay, that's cool then.
