Oh, man.

"If she owes you her life, my lord," he said, "then I owe you my reason for living."

(Yes, I'm almost done with Kushiel's Chosen. Today will see the finishing of it. 3 days; not bad for mid-week, working around dance classes and meetings, if I do say so myself.))

That's the... second one? I have yet to start it, though I really enjoyed the first one.

A little brain driven for until my mind recovers from qualifying. I should be ready again soon.

Yup, it's the second. If you liked the first, you'll like it too. :)

Is the quote you've posted from Kushiel's Chosen, or another book? I'm a sap for sappy novels. ;)

It's from Kushiel's Chosen. It's the second in a series (the first being Kushiel's Dart) of awesome novels. Take the best parts of a romance novel, mix it with a LOT of cunning political intruige and spy games, adventure, and then top it off with a dollop of BDSM. Rowr.

Yeah, ummm...sappy they aren't. I've got [livejournal.com profile] shogunhb reading the first one now. He seems to like it. And I greatly appreciate the effects ~_-

Kushiel's Avatar is my absolute favorite. Hurry and read and then we may giggle like schoolgirls.

The reunion scene always makes me tear up and want Joscelin madly. Ahh sexy sexy man. "Never never never again!" Now I have to go home and get the rest of the trilogy....

And Jacqueline Carey may be coming to Lunacon next year. And a very likely 'may' at that. She seemed really sorry to have to miss out this year's.

Come and kneel abeyante at her feet with me?

But they ARE sappy, at points. Tell me that scene isn't sappy. Tell me the line I quoted isn't sappy. They're just not FULL of sap. Which is part of what makes them awesome.

Come and kneel abeyante at her feet with me?
Oh hells yes. As soon as we figure out how to do that. ;) *giggle*

It's sentimental, I'll grant--but sappy? I dunno...I always think of sappy as on the point of making me ill. But still, I see your point. I did admit to tearing up at that point--altho it's a tearing up leavened by crazy fictional-character-lust.

Alternately, we could fling ourselves at her feet and clutch her shins until she agrees to sign our books and give us advanced copies of the next trilogy. I'm pretty sure we don't have to figure out how to do that. I've been practicing. :D

Finished it on the way home. :) Get on AIM, you.

Personally, I think we should just practice the abeyante for each other until it's perfect... *innocent look*

Sorry...I've been dying over the past couple of days and didn't get this till now.

*blinks innocently* But that would take tons and tons of practice if we wanted to get it just perfect for her, wouldn't it?

Probably... and come to think of it, I need some practice with that languissement thing, too.

interestingly enough, I came across this book, it's called Les Trois Mille Joie. I was looking for a study partner...purely for the joys of academic pursuit of course. And would Jacqueline be so happy if we could show her mow much we've learned?

No, they never lose their dignity, which is, I think, the crucial element of moving into sap-dom.

*hmm*

My working definition of "sappy" is not too different from my working definition of "romantic," but I now think this might be unusual. ;)
