hrm.. what do your scrunchies look like? Because in Australia it's the epitome of 80's!.. but I might be thinking of something different.

Yeah, I noticed the day I was the only person I knew still wearing them. To me as long as they're not big and fluffy, they're the thing to hold up a ponytail/bun with, but apparently the younger/more 'fashionable' set has switched entirely to clips and colored rubberbands. I thought the whole reason to use scrunchies was to avoid hair breakage? Aren't those little rubber bands bad for hair?

Well, it's really hard to find a rubber band these days with the metal joining bit, they seem to all have gone over to the 'ouchless' style. Which is good. But, I dunno, there's just something about scrunchies that I prefer.

I would still wear one, I guess, if I had any. I buy those big rubberbands now, the thick ones without any metal pieces. They're much more secure than scrunchies.

They are very useful in 80s fashion, yes, especially if you use a neon-colored one and put your hair up on the side of your head. ;) But I use muted colors (well, most of the time) and just pull my hair back in a mid-to-low ponytail most of the time.

I need to replace my LJ icons with longer-haired ones, I think. The ones I have are all old and short-haired.

I've got some never worn scrunchies I'd be happy to send your way; they came in a variety pack Vogon bought and I only wanted the covered elastics from it.
