So, uh... The other night I cleared off shelf space in my room and put all of my yarn in one place, rather than stashed in various hidey-holes.

And, um, I don't need to buy any more yarn for a while. ^_^

I'll take a picture tonight, or something. Then you can all make fun of me.

I'm sure you'll use your yarn eventually.

What sort of yarn do you use mostly?

I started out on Lion Brand Homespun (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/homespun.htm) (opens in new window), a nice-feeling acrylic that comes out fun and chunky due to its ripples. Lately I've used Lion's Wool-Ease (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/woolease.htm) for a few projects and it's VERY nice.

For the sweater I'm making I'm using Reynold's Candide (http://www.yarn.com/yarns-knitting/candide.html). It was surprisingly inexpensive for 100% wool.

Let's see... for something for my new brother I used CottonTots (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=cottontots)... and in the cotton vein I've used (and have left over) some Sugar & Cream (http://www.sugarncream.com/product.php?LGC=sugarncream&PHPSESSID=52ebc0d59571aba1302d1c9665157918).

I bought a bunch of yarn from some girl's throw-aways on the [livejournal.com profile] knitting community that included some Caron Simply Soft (http://www.caron.com/color_cards/cc_simplysoft.html), some Lamb's Pride (http://brownsheep.com/lp.html) bulky, and one roll of mohair of some type (mineminemine!)

Trying to think of what else... I have some Wildflower DK (http://www.kaleidoscopeyarns.com/plymouth-wildflower-dk-cotton-acrylic-blend-double-knitting-sport-weight-baby-yarn.html), some Bernat Boa (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=boa), some random untagged yarn I got at an SCA event, um...

Yeah. This is all I know I have, by memory, so add a few more brands/types to this to get my full stash. :)

The Wool-Ease is nice for potholders. I'm gonna get some green (or maybe multicolor) for my set now that I've finished the pair for Mom (posted pictures earlier).

Haven't used any of the others

I have leftover Wool-Ease that I'm not gonna use in red, brown, pink (dark and heathered), and white-with-silver-speckles. If you're interested.

What kind of red? I like brown... ooh shiny white with silver speckles!

on 10 Feb 2005 11:37 (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com
It's a very basic cardinal red, but not too bright. I'd guess it's the "ranch red" on the site, although that's coming across to bright to me on the monitor. The brown is "chocolate" and the white with silver is "white/multi" near the bottom - and I have TWO skeins of that!

I bet the shiny white would make a lovely hat....

I bet so also, I've made two hats out of Wool-Ease already...!

Hee hee, I could make Erik wear it, that would be funny.

No, I'd give it to Mom I think.

Hrm... I actually think it's more likely that I'm in Worcester than you're in Somerville.. true or not?

Do we really need a reason to make fun of someone?

on 10 Feb 2005 09:14 (UTC)
Posted by [identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com
Probably not, but I prefer you having a reason ^_^

No way

I've seen [livejournal.com profile] bess vast tracks of yarn and I am resolute that yours can't be bigger.

Probably true. But I have a lot for ME. ;)

Absolutely, and this means you will get ridicule if you post "I need to get some yarn." I can't make fun of you because that would make me a yarn covered pot calling the kettle wooly.

A lot of people I know suffer from this, but in the form of fabric, not yarn.

why can't we just make fun of you?

isn't that what friends are for?

in good times, in bad times?

in times of yarn wealth and in times of yarn famine ...

okay i'll stop. sickybrain not much sense maketh.

sickbrain

Uh oh, should I be worried that I don't have a sickbrain and that still made sense?

i wouldn't

i would take it as a sign of my great intuitiveness and keen insight.

but i always was more of an optimist.

or, you know,

I should have, having been to your house, but I can't remember.

You could also do some knitting of hats for charity. Not like you have enough projects to do. Preemies in the NICU are always in need of little hats since nothing else fits them.

I should make a knitting to-do list so I can keep these ideas on it! Thanks. :) Hats for chemotherapy patients are also something that knitters do for charity :)

Definately! If I could crochet I would do things like that. Well crochet not embarrasing like. And ugly.

it can't be any worse than the massive piles of fabric that are currently strewn around my loungeroom. I need more shelves!
