yarn stash

So, uh... The other night I cleared off shelf space in my room and put all of my yarn in one place, rather than stashed in various hidey-holes.

And, um, I don't need to buy any more yarn for a while. ^_^

I'll take a picture tonight, or something. Then you can all make fun of me.

Ooh yarn. I need ot buy yarn.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Come to Somerville and buy some of mine for cheap! ^_^

[identity profile] brewergnome.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you'll use your yarn eventually.

What sort of yarn do you use mostly?

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
I started out on Lion Brand Homespun (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/homespun.htm) (opens in new window), a nice-feeling acrylic that comes out fun and chunky due to its ripples. Lately I've used Lion's Wool-Ease (http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/woolease.htm) for a few projects and it's VERY nice.

For the sweater I'm making I'm using Reynold's Candide (http://www.yarn.com/yarns-knitting/candide.html). It was surprisingly inexpensive for 100% wool.

Let's see... for something for my new brother I used CottonTots (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=cottontots)... and in the cotton vein I've used (and have left over) some Sugar & Cream (http://www.sugarncream.com/product.php?LGC=sugarncream&PHPSESSID=52ebc0d59571aba1302d1c9665157918).

I bought a bunch of yarn from some girl's throw-aways on the [livejournal.com profile] knitting community that included some Caron Simply Soft (http://www.caron.com/color_cards/cc_simplysoft.html), some Lamb's Pride (http://brownsheep.com/lp.html) bulky, and one roll of mohair of some type (mineminemine!)

Trying to think of what else... I have some Wildflower DK (http://www.kaleidoscopeyarns.com/plymouth-wildflower-dk-cotton-acrylic-blend-double-knitting-sport-weight-baby-yarn.html), some Bernat Boa (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=boa), some random untagged yarn I got at an SCA event, um...

Yeah. This is all I know I have, by memory, so add a few more brands/types to this to get my full stash. :)

The Wool-Ease is nice for potholders. I'm gonna get some green (or maybe multicolor) for my set now that I've finished the pair for Mom (posted pictures earlier).

Haven't used any of the others

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
I have leftover Wool-Ease that I'm not gonna use in red, brown, pink (dark and heathered), and white-with-silver-speckles. If you're interested.

[identity profile] brewergnome.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
What kind of red? I like brown... ooh shiny white with silver speckles!

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's a very basic cardinal red, but not too bright. I'd guess it's the "ranch red" on the site, although that's coming across to bright to me on the monitor. The brown is "chocolate" and the white with silver is "white/multi" near the bottom - and I have TWO skeins of that!

[identity profile] brewergnome.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet the shiny white would make a lovely hat....

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet so also, I've made two hats out of Wool-Ease already...!

[identity profile] brewergnome.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hee hee, I could make Erik wear it, that would be funny.

No, I'd give it to Mom I think.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Well then, we need to meet up for this yarn exchange :)

[identity profile] brewergnome.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
That might be a good plan

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hrm... I actually think it's more likely that I'm in Worcester than you're in Somerville.. true or not?

[identity profile] brewergnome.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly I couldn't tell you where sommerville is, besides it's in Boston viscinity (I think)

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Next to Cambridge. :)

[identity profile] waya3k.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
Do we really need a reason to make fun of someone?

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not, but I prefer you having a reason ^_^

No way

[identity profile] cristovau.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen [livejournal.com profile] bess vast tracks of yarn and I am resolute that yours can't be bigger.

Re: No way

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Probably true. But I have a lot for ME. ;)

Re: No way

[identity profile] cristovau.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely, and this means you will get ridicule if you post "I need to get some yarn." I can't make fun of you because that would make me a yarn covered pot calling the kettle wooly.

A lot of people I know suffer from this, but in the form of fabric, not yarn.

Re: No way

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
*doesn't also have a fabric stash*
*not at all*
*nope*
*looks side to side*
*makes a run for it*

we need pictures?

[identity profile] tlluria.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
why can't we just make fun of you?

isn't that what friends are for?

in good times, in bad times?

in times of yarn wealth and in times of yarn famine ...

okay i'll stop. sickybrain not much sense maketh.

sickbrain

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
Uh oh, should I be worried that I don't have a sickbrain and that still made sense?

i wouldn't

[identity profile] tlluria.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
i would take it as a sign of my great intuitiveness and keen insight.

but i always was more of an optimist.

or, you know,

[identity profile] tlluria.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
your great intuitiveness and keen insight.

*sigh*

must go nap.

optimism

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
I think that is a brilliant diagnosis.

[identity profile] invader-haywire.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Have you seen my collection of unbuilt models and minis?

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
I should have, having been to your house, but I can't remember.

[identity profile] ex-sleek838.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
You could also do some knitting of hats for charity. Not like you have enough projects to do. Preemies in the NICU are always in need of little hats since nothing else fits them.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
I should make a knitting to-do list so I can keep these ideas on it! Thanks. :) Hats for chemotherapy patients are also something that knitters do for charity :)

[identity profile] ex-sleek838.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Definately! If I could crochet I would do things like that. Well crochet not embarrasing like. And ugly.

[identity profile] zenandtheart.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
it can't be any worse than the massive piles of fabric that are currently strewn around my loungeroom. I need more shelves!

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I have those too! ;)
ext_267559: (LEGO)

[identity profile] mr-teem.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You have never seen my collection of LEGO bricks and models. (Now strewn across three storage locations in two states.)

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-10 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
This is true.

[identity profile] goldbug.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
hmm, i have some yarn i've been meaning to send you. it's white and fuzzy and mohair i think.
also: would you have any use for assorted colors/sizes pompons? i could send those too.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-11 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the idea of getting both of those things in a package. :)
