I really need to learn how to knit! C. gave me this sweater, and I liked it alot, but the neck was really HUGE!Like a turtle neck, but you could roll this thing down 3 or 4 times! So instead of trying to just cut it off,I unraveled it down to where I wanted it,and now I have tons of balls of matching yarn! And I really would love to make a scarf or mittens to match the sweater :)
That is SUCH a smart idea! :D How did you stop the unravelling once you got down to the length you wanted?
I suggest finding your "local yarn store" and asking the people there if they know of any people willing to teach. Sometimes they're willing to teach right there!
ooo, that'd be super nice if they would teach me... I'm not sure how it stopped unraveling...there was like a braid down the back side where it had been 'tied' off or somethin (dont know the technical names YET) and it just kinda stopped where I wanted it to hehe.I cut off the last piece I wanted to take out,and it was all bound and tied together there ,so the rest will stay put. Oh,I found some free catalogs, with knitting stuff in them if you'd like them...I can mail ya the links or something.
yeah catalogs! C. and myself really like to look at catalogs,so for the last two or three days I've been lookin up free catalogs to order for us...I'll be getting ALOT of mail soon :) So I just looked again, and could only find these three, but I swear I thought there were more..If I get more in the mail,I'll send ya links to those too,but in the meantime, these links will take you to knitting/sewing free catalog request sites.
Got my cam to work for a second,no before pics, but the neck of this thing was like three times longer. (http://img218.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img218&image=unraveledsweater5oz.jpg)
The loopy bits at the top might look funny,so I'll probably tuck it in somethin like this (http://img58.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img58&image=unraveledsweater20qc.jpg)
