This is from the comments to last night's ranty post... I felt that it needed to put out here too!

...but what many people are missing about this post is not that I'm saying, "Waaaah, this thing is hard and scary and I have a hard time doing it!" but rather, "Huh... not only is this thing hard/scary/difficult - I actually enjoy the other thing more."

The post was about how I must be weird because I like being given instructions and following them! But hey, so I'm weird - so what? That's me. Now just to find places where I can flourish. :)

Database Manager. I had this job for a few years, on and off. Kinda fell into it, mostly as a result of the l33t Excel skills I demonstrated as a temp. You seem to have (and enjoy) similar skills, so I expect you could probably do database work as well.

Managing large amounts of data, often including creating and structuring databases to hold it. Producing reports that tell management what the data says. Handling mailing lists, but at bigger size and a higher level of complexity than standard admin asst. Excel isn't the best tool for big jobs, but it's ubiquitous, so a lot of small-to-medium jobs end up utilizing it. MS Access is slightly higher end, though it has many typical MS problems (bugs, security holes, etc.) If you go through a temping period, it's well worth your while to learn Access.
