Is monogamy the optimal configuration for sexual and romantic relationships?

It depends on who you are. For some, maybe there is no optimal configuration, or happiness in this world to be found. Generally, i'll venture that as it is a predominant doctrine, you'll avoid hurting and confusing people by sticking to the rules of monogamy - then again, i'm not confident that you still won't end up hurt and confused. Also, as one only does have so much time and love to go around, monogamy is a bit easier. All in all, lately i've been wary of any kind of human connection - so risk-laden. Poetry smacks of a similar danger. Is romance really worth the risk of accidentally hurting someone you care for? Put differently: is it really better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

i'm sorry if i didn't answer the question well..
