As far as my urban legend goes (and I got it from goldbug), the shoes thing indicates the presence of a drug dealer nearby.

I've heard that. But I've also seen shoes on power lines in the middle of no where.

And now that I think about it, the entryway to Philmont (a Boy Scout camp) is covered in shoes.



Maybe it means there's a Boy Scout near by to help old woman or something.

I have heard of that urban legend, and it may have been true at some times, in some places. But a lot of the time, it meant that bullies had knocked down some dweeb, taken his shoes, and put them where he could never get them back.

Wow. I've never heard that before. (I do live under a rock, I admit.) There are a pair of shoes on a power line about two blocks from my apartment, and there are shoes on a power line right before the turn to get to Penn Square Mall going west on Northwest Expressway. Interesting.
