I found a good way to ensure that no one crowds me on the bus - knit! Even though my needles never go further from my body than my elbows would, people still see them as obstacles to avoid, and therefore they will either avoid sitting next to me or they'll scootch over the other way.

I like this, because I'm a misanthrope.

Also, I'm very close to finishing my scarf. However, I have a whole other skein of the yarn... should I just make a super-long scarf, or should I make something else with it? And if so, what? (Please remember I'm a newbie...)

Sure, if you have an easy pattern... I am curious to learn how one knits in a circle, too.

it is actually quite simple...what size needles do you need? I may have some I can bring to dance, show you, and then lend you.

If you can do a scarf, this should be easy...little washcloth/dishrags.
People in our family used to make them all the time.

use the extra yarn to put tassles on each end of the scarf - or make a little hat
