I am beginning to doubt that shoe companies make navy blue shoes anymore.
That's all I wanted. I decided to use my extra 90 minutes (since the seminar got out before my normal work day would) to go shoe shopping and try to find some cheap (<$30) navy blue shoes for work. I went to Filene's Basement, Payless, DSW, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's. And NO DICE. I mean, yeah, I did find some navy blue shoes. They were either (1) not suitable for winter, meaning slides or whatnot, or (2) not fitting me in any way, shape, or form. It sucks having a foot so wide that even wide width shoes are either too tight or too long. *sigh*
The amazing part of this trip is that I found some GORGEOUS black boots in Filene's for $15...
..and DIDN'T buy them. Yeah, wtf? I had some kind of attack of frugality. *sigh* But really, if I buy boots I should buy waterproof ones, and the only ones of those that fit were ugly and $50. I'll just have to keep looking.

on 27 Sep 2004 17:53 (UTC)Now now, before you go all telling me that they're expensive and ghetto, I wear my Tims ALL the time and they're super comphy once you break them in. Nice and roomy for the lady with the wider feet, and if they arn't waterproof you can always buy that spray that makes them waterproof. A good investment for any pair of shoes you have, even for the ones that are already waterproof. Gives you that extra protection.
I bought mine for about $30, but I worked at Bob's at the time. I'd suggest going there and trying them on, then asking the sales Rep if they go on sale and of they do, when would they think the next sale would be. Then you can go to perhaps to the Tims website or some other similar Site to see if you could catch a deal.
And there's always Wrentham!
They may seem all ghetto-thug, and they are, but they look really nice with a pair of nice bluejeans. And, even tho it'll increase your thug level to astronomical heights, you CAN walk around in them without tying them up. They have nice cushy ankle-support, but the laces are stiff so you might want to get different ones.

on 28 Sep 2004 14:39 (UTC)And for the more slender plain-jeans wearing lady, Bob's again. They sell Levis, yet again, way in the back.

on 28 Sep 2004 06:27 (UTC)if they dont have it at dsw though, i bet the odds are not good of them having it many places
they also have great plain button up shirts at Lerner/New York & Company. thats where i go. they were on sale for $20 last week. i have found in the great world of being a boring lawyer about the only appropriate shirts for me to wear are button up. Boring.

on 28 Sep 2004 10:51 (UTC)I like the button-downs that I can get from Eddie Bauer. They have wrinkle-free ones that rule!

They won't be cheap, but they'll last.

on 28 Sep 2004 11:35 (UTC)Talk about another really-hard-to-find shoe... White flats! And I was looking in the spring and summer!!
I just don't get it. I think from now on, I'm going to stick to black shoes & sneakers. And I hope I don't have to look for boots again for a while.

on 28 Sep 2004 16:25 (UTC)Now, admittedly, I have large feet. And I didn't want sandals (in my mind, sandals are not appropriate much after Labor Day - just because it's too freaking COLD and I don't like cold toes). But STILL! White dress flats should NOT be hard to find - especially that time of year! Everywhere I looked, all I saw were sandals and heels. Even at Easy Spirit, there was a surprisingly small collection (like, 2). I actually had to order the right size from another store.
The good news is that now I (finally!) have comfy white flats. They'll be getting a lot more wear next spring & beyond.
