ChooChooCon II!
26 September 2004 16:32So, the meetup/con/whatever was a blast. Randy, Ella and I got to Good Times at 10 before 2, but no one else showed up until about 2:15... and that was
diego001 and
karlean7! The first strangers to show up were at about 2:30.
I played some DDR, Area 51, Time Crisis 2, Tetris, ski ball, the alligator-smacking game, and also a new game (to me) - Para Para Paradise. I am so in love with it! It's actual dancing! I need to go back and play more.
Our group (once it was at 15 or so) also played laser tag. We were able to all be on one team, the red team... and we kicked so much ass. The final score was 216560 to 130990. I was third place overall, second on my team! Yeah, go me! I got 41695 points. Most of those were base tags, though, not player tags - I was going after the bases. ;)
The people that showed up were really nice. One of them - I don't know his LJ name, but his real name is Rob - recently got back from Afghanistan and brought presents for both Randy and me! I got a very pretty black and white traditional Afghan scarf (a keffieyah, I think). It's very good as a hip scarf for bellydancing! Although someone more in the know should let me know if that's an offensive thing to do with it...
Oh, Rob also dumped $15 worth of Good Times tokens into my hands as he left, because he hadn't been able to use them and he lives far away. I find this amusing, because I went to Good Times with the $5 of tokens that Jim (previous roommate) had left with me when he moved to Arizona, hoping to use them up. I did use them up.. .and then left with 3x that amount. ;) Oh well, I'll just have to go back and play more Para Para Paradise!
At 6, the group left for Allston and the Sunset Grill. I was in Randy's car, and advised him that taking either 93 or 28 was fine for getting to Storrow, and therefore we took 93... BIG OOPS. Hello, Red Sox traffic. Blegh. I got yelled at for that, a lot. :(
Then we showed up and found out that the restaurant, while telling me a week and an hour in advance that they knew we were coming and they'd be ready, didn't actually reserve us places. We stood outside for quite a while waiting... until the restaurant owner came out and offered us seating in the place next door that he also owned! Hooray. We sat at a long table, looking much like the Last Supper...
They had good beer (I had what was known as a "Fruit Flight", meaning I had four 5oz glasses of different fruit beers, ending with a delicious framboise) (
en_li had almost all (besides what I stole) of two yards of beer!). I also got yummy thai chicken kinda like satay for dinner. The people were awesome and we had a good time. Yay, ChooChooCon.
Ella had to be home early to get awake for work at 5am, so she, Randy, and I left at, oh, 10:30 or so.I came home to a
londo who ended up DJing from my house due to another DJ feeling bad, so yay! I was able to be on the radio with him again! Then I crashed about 3am. Mmm, sleep.
He's still asleep... I think I'll go do something about that now.
