Hey there all you gamers - anyone know good sites for buying dice sets online? I'm googlin' it for now...

[EDIT] Anyone know where in the Boston area I can find these? (Clicking takes you to their online ordering page, but paying almost twice as much for shipping doesn't appeal to me.)

Go down to "The Compleat Strategist" on Mass Avenue across from the Christian Science Center. More dice than you could ever want.

Well, I was looking to shop online first to find out what exactly I'm looking for... and then go to a local store to try to find it. :)

Whatever you do, where ever you buy... DO NOT ORDER FROM NEW WAVE GAMES!!!

The store in Lexington (forget the name, but it's on the corner of 4-225 and Waltham St.) has them; also, the comics store in Waltham (up on Moody St.) often has them. I bought a set of the crispy-orange ones there.

Of course neither is particularly accessible without resorting to cars or busses.

Wanna pick me up a pack, and we'll transfer goods via each other or [livejournal.com profile] learnedax or someone else we both see regularly?

Actually, cancel that until I make the rounds of closeby stores and ensure that I cannot find them myself.

Comics store on Moody -- Outer Limits?

Danger Planet had a decent selection of dice last time I was there, but I don't know if they had those.

Outer Limits, yes. Danger Planet had a good selection but I didn't see the sparkly Chessex ones. I'll ask my local dice maven ([livejournal.com profile] galaneia).

Nearly every store carries Chessex and can order them for you. Since they come as part of a regular shipment, shipping is free, and sometimes they give discounts for special orders.

Yah. Chessex rules. Been buying their dice almost exclusively for well over a decade. One reason I stopped going to GenCon was that I would drop *cough*dozens*cough* of dollars on their pretty dice.

To add to the chorus, you should be able to find Chessex dice at nearly any gaming store or comics store that also does gaming. The Comic Store and The Wizard's Tower in Nashua have them. I know I've bought them at the place in Marlboro.

I think i have them all beat

While those are cool, I'm not wanting to spend $50+ on dice. ;)

Don't buy hematite. It has a tendency to shatter.

I bought some of the gemstone dice and was very disappointed with the build quality; the numbers are stamped off center, the dice are obviously not-fair, and they're -- well -- tiny. So I'd recommend seeing them in person before spending the cash.

I agree. I have a small handful of them that I bought for novelty value initially and just didn't like using them. Their first years run had major quality control problems.

I bought 'a pound of dice' for my gaming friends last xmas. Just search for 'pound of dice'. Heh.

It's here (http://www.chessex.com/Dice/poundofdice.htm), one of the companies that was suggested above. :)

If I were with a group of people going in on dice, I'd be all about it.

I didn't say it couldn't. Just that it wouldn't be the best route. ;)

Your Move Games, Davis^2 on Highland.
Pandemonium Books, Harvard^2, in the Garage (yes, they sell dice, or at least used to.)
Games People Play, Harvard^2, MassAve.

Also, there is (was?) a new wargaming store in Harvard^2, across the alley from Au Bon Pain.

You may also want to call around to some comic book stores. Comicazi in Davis^2 may also sell dice, since they sell a lot of things besides comic books.

Thanks!

Did you actually drop off the fabric last week...? I haven't seen it, but perhaps Jen just forgot to tell me...
