Teri and Chris Crosby, the mother-son team behind Keenspot Comics, up and left California to re-establish their business in the abandoned high school of Cresbard, South Dakota. From Scott Kurtz:

According to the 2000 census, Cresbard, South Dakota consists of 143 people, 72 households, and 47 families residing in the town. If Keenspot were to employ 10 people, there would be a 5% drop in the unemployment rate.

That's amazing. And awesome. Hooray for the power of the internet!

P.S. Mapquest search for Cresbard. Definition of "middle of nowhere".

Wow. That is freakin' awesome.

And "middle of nowhere" is right - I remember having a town like that on my ice-cream route: six blocks square with nothing around it but farms. Looking back (and at a map), that town is probably twice the size of Cresbard, SD.
