Link snatched from [livejournal.com profile] baronbrian: Fire codes thwart church's attempt at book-burning. *grin*

I wonder if my hospital treats full-paying or insured patients as well as it treats its Free Care customers. I went in at 12:45 to check-in for my 1:00 appointment and was told to sit and wait. When I got up at 1:30 to ask what the wait was, the receptionist went behind the desk for a minute only to return and tell me that the doctor wasn't actually going to be in until 2:30. Why thank you, that would've been nice to know at 1:00 when I checked in. Growl.

wow.

I'd've been pissed.

"I have a 1:00 appointment, what do you mean he won't be here until 2:30!?"

See above re: Free Care. I'm pretty much at the hospital's mercy.

Yeah, I do... LJ is my primary form of entertainment at work. Also, I have a lot of friends all over the world (Australia, Japan, Canada, England...) so this is my primary form of letting people know what's going on in my life :)

Where is your hospital? I got Free Care in a local clinic in Dorchester for many many years, and they had quite good service. Possibly something to do with it being a poor enough neighborhood that a *lot* of their clients were Free Care...

Kes used to go there for some joint-pain specialists. We've had significant angst with their billing bureaucracy, though their actual medical service was decent.

Is there somewhere where you could complain, anonymously to the hospital? You really ought to, if you can.

I have to call back to confirm the rescheduling anyway, and I plan on "discussing" the issue with a department manager...

Um, I think it's really common for Free Care (medicaid, medi-cal, whatever) patients to not be treated as well as those who pay or have insurance. Is it fair? Of course not. But I wouldn't have been surprised.

Right. That's why I'm not surprised. Just grumbly. ;)
