So. In about two hours, give or take a bit of time where I slacked off (such as posting that one thing about the camel), I have skimmed through a 376-page graduate-level textbook on radical Islam and pulled out the bits that were relevant to my paper (the status of women in the past 30 years). This book was more about the rise and fall of the Islamic movement as a whole and therefore had little to offer to my paper.

The next and final book I have to use is a 289-page, for-the-masses-level book that is only about Islamic women. I can't decide if skimming it for citations will be more or less time consuming than the last book. It will be easier to penetrate, but involve much more contemplation of relevance.

It's 10pm already, should I continue? Hmmm. We'll find out, after this short break.

Well when's the bleeding thing due, and how far along are you?

*blink*

I read that and immediately answered in my head, "The bleeding thing started four days ago, I hate being a woman, but why in the hell do you ask?" before I realized you weren't referring to menstruation...

The paper was due over 7 months ago. I took an Incomplete in the class with a promise to the professor that I would finish it. Then I disappeared. I emailed him in October to reassure him I was going to finish it, then disappeared again. I'd really like for him to not give up on me (and I'd really like to not give up on myself), so I got the ball rolling.

If you want to be technical, I have a year to make up the Incomplete, so I only have to turn it in with enough time for him to grade it, calculate my final grade, and report that before May 2004ish. But I don't want to wait that long.

Once I scan this final book and add its contributions, I'll be an hour or so from done. I'll just have to rewrite a bit to make it flow more smoothly, add the list of sources, and fire off the email with a brief greeting, a reminder of who I am and what I'm sending him, and reassurance that since it's the holidays I don't expect a grade tomorrow.

So I'll finish it either tonight or tomorrow... but which, is the question.

I totally thought that you'd made a post about your period being late, and the possibility of pregnancy (how far along are you?), and I'd somehow missed it. It was weird.

We are on-time, no worries. If there was such an event, you'd know about it from sources other than LJ. You're like, the first person I'd go to.

Yeah, I'm the resident pregnancy expert.

NOT the title I'd have guessed I'd have in the "where will you be in 10 years?" game when I was 14. ;)

Actually, in this case, it's more the resident female best friend. :)

Aw, thanks. That made me sappy and my breasts started leaking.

I WISH I were joking.

I'm nosy, but I'm not THAT nosy.
