"Nothing Better" by The Postal Service

[HIM]
Will someone please call a surgeon
who can crack my ribs
and repair this broken heart
that you're deserting for better company?
I can't accept that it's over:
and I will block the door like a goalie
tending the net in the third quarter
of a tied-game of rivalry.
So just say how to make it right
and I swear I'll do my best to comply

Tell me am I right to think that there
could be nothing better
then making you my bride and slowly
growing old together?

[HER]
I feel I must interject here
you're getting carried away,
feeling sorry for youself
with these revisions
and gaps in history.
So let me help you remember.
I've made charts and graphs that should
finally make it clear.
I've prepared a lecture
on why I have to leave.
So please back away and let me go.

[HIM]
I can't my darling I love you so.

Tell me am I right to think that
there could be nothing better
than making you my bride and slowly
growing old together.

[HER]
Don't you feed me lines
about some idealistic future.
Your heart won't heal right
if you keep tearing out the sutures.

[HIM]
I admit that I have made mistakes
and I swear I'll never wrong you again.

[HER]
I've got a lure I can't deny.
You've had your chance so say goodbye,
say goodbye.

"Why Can't I" by Liz Phair

Get a load of me, get a load of you
Walkin' down the street, and I hardly know you
It's just like we were meant to be
Holding hands with you, and we're out at night
Got a girlfriend, you say it isn't right
And I've got someone waiting too

But this is just the beginning
We're already wet, and we're gonna go swimming

Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you
Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you
It's inevitable, it's a fact that we're gonna get down to it
So tell me
Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you

Isn't this the best part of breakin' up
Finding someone else you can't get enough of
Someone who wants to be with you too
It's an itch we know we are gonna scratch
Gonna take a while for this egg to hatch
But wouldn't it be beautiful

Here we are, we're at the beginning
We haven't fucked yet, but my head's spinning

Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you
Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you
It's inevitable, it's a fact that we're gonna get down to it
So tell me
Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you

High enough for you to make me wonder
Where it's goin'
High enough for you to pull me under
Somethin's growin'
Out of this this that we can control
Baby I am dyin'

Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you
Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you
Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you
Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you
It's inevitable, it's a fact that we're gonna get down to it
So tell me
Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you

Did you know that removed ribs can regenerate, as long as the outer layer of tissue is left more or less intact?

No, I didn't know that.
Thank you for that piece of random information.

I feel a need to respond to your second Postal Service related post.

A couple of points to make:

Brand New Colony is actually the best track off of Give Up.

New Liz Phair album = Uncreative Pop Fluff

And some fun factoids:

The great female harmonies on Give Up were mostly provided by former child actress Jenny Lewis.

The cover of We Will Become The Silhouettes by The Shins off of the Such Great Heights EP is hoopy.

And of course the indie-boy gloating, SUCKERS!

Still, it's is about time the rest of the world caught on to the how great the Postal Service is.

Bonus Track Yo!

I was just introduced to them, and they are indeed great. I've had one song or another stuck in my head for 3-4 nights now.

I'm fond of "The District Sleeps Tonight", "Nothing Better", "Such Great Heights", "Clark Gable", and "Brand New Colony".

You should feel a need to respond to more of my posts. Even if it's just to call me nasty names.

Nothing Better

I was the guy in Nothing Better and didn't want to let the girl go. Notwithstanding, I'm sure I've made some mistakes, but none that I can imagine sending the girl away. Whatever the case may be, this song has helped me to let her go. She's getting married in February 2004 so now might be a good time. When we were together it was bliss like I've never known before. Now she's gone...never returns phone calls or emails...breaks my heart, but eventually I need to catch the clue and move on. Can't live here forever. Could, but don't want to. Get up, move out, move on and see what else this big blue planet has in store. Thanks.

I applaud your efforts to overcome what you can't change.

But I don't know who you are. :)

Nothing Better than Getting Better

Thanks for the kind words. The separation has been successful and my heart is healing now. No tearing out the sutures like I did before. I think I'm almost done with the healing process. The wedding is at the end of February and I am not attending, though I was invited...the passage of that time will be the final step for me. So for now, I'm doing great, and I couldn't be happier about that. Keeping a watchful eye for whatever life may bring this year.
