Well, fuck. Pardon the expletive, but that really sums up the situation.

I'm what, two weeks healed from the back injury, and I find myself unable to walk again. This time because of my ankle.

I was walking at Quincy Market in Boston today with my friends Paul/Vraal and Heath/Kendis, and I stepped on some uneven pavement and rolled my foot. I fell straight down, boom. It hurt and I sat and swore for a minute. But as I rolled my foot around it started going away, so I got up and walked on it. It was sore, but not too bad to walk. Still, I called it a night soon and came home. I layed (correct verb form?) on the couch to watch a movie, and pretty much didn't move the whole time.

When the movie was over I moved, and OH HOLY SHIT THAT HURT. I then realized this was more than something I'd walk off. I hopped into the kitchen, got a bag of ice, and tied it on with a dishrag. Then I got a folding chair to use as substitute crutches and hopped around the apartment looking for a pair of crutches. For some reason I remember Jim owning a pair but I can't find them anywhere. Perhaps he got rid of them.
Anyway, now I'm in EXTREME pain, enough to make me cry, and I AM crying, because I have the worst luck in the entire world. I don't have insurance to cover going to the hospital to get x-rays... does anyone know how much that would cost? I don't know if it's broken, sprained, twisted, or what... my mom suggests torn ligaments....

Oh did I mention Jim was gone for the entire weekend? I'm here alone. He doesn't get home until Sunday late night. I do have people coming over before then but now I'm going to be a gimp and not good company. What do I do to deserve this? Is it bad karma?

So, I repeat: fuck. I guess I'll sleep on it (well not ON it, you know what I mean) and see how I feel in the morning. Plus, then I could get a ride from someone if I decide medical attention is necessary rather than paying for an ambulence or taxi. I just hope I can sleep... it's THAT painful. Even when just lying there.

*cry*

ambulance rides are really, really expensive. when karen rode in an ambulance from OU to norman regional it was about $800.
get some catastrophic health insurance. it's not that expensive. i just paid 220ish for 6 months. that way, if anything horrible happens, you won't be out more than a few thousand. i've heard that just a simple broken arm is 10-15 thousand if you don't have any insurance coverage.

From where would I get this kind of coverage? It indeed sounds like a good idea.

i got mine from medsave.com. it was the cheapest i could find. the policy itself comes from fortis insurance. shop around though. since you're in a different state, and the 20-24 instead of the 25-29 age group, you might find a cheaper policy with a different insurer. search for "short term health insurance".
also, if you pay in advance (i paid for 6 months at once) it's cheaper than having them bill you every month.
