I didn't allow myself online all day long, and I got the kitchen unpacked and cleaned. Fear me.

I am extremely hungry, but I don't know what to make. Jim won't be home until later tonight so I'm just cooking for one. For lunch I had leftover potato soup with some egg noodles. There's tuna, of frozen veggies, some soups, pasta, and rice... Hrm.

I tried writing the moving/OMP story yesterday but something about the schedule I've been keeping left me too tired. I quit partway through. What I have is saved, of course, but it's not done. Sigh.

Perhaps this bit of information will reveal to you all that I'm pathetic, but whatever... My bicycle needs new tubes in its tires, and I've always paid someone else to replace them. This time I have purchased my own tubes, but I am apprehensive about fiddling with my bike. I just don't want to break anything. And how do I get the tires off anyway?

I can change the tires on a car I don't own, but I can't change the tires on my bicycle. Sigh.

I am currently reading Sherlock Holmes (the complete novels and short stories). Holmes is quite the arrogant bastard, and treats Watson like shit. And then there's the cocaine. Makes for interesting reading. :)

The creatures I have always thought were centipedes are apparently actually millipedes. I saw a centipede in the bathroom last night and it freaked me out.

I've led a sheltered life, apparently.

well, there's no need to learn how to change bicycle tubes if you thought you'd always just pay someone to do it. i have no idea how to change my own oil or mow the lawn. this may not make me a great person to have around in case of, say, the stand, but it doesn't really impact my life. i'm willing to learn. i just haven't seen a need to thus far. i'd just pay somebody to replace my tubes too. yeah, it's more expensive, but i don't know how to do it, and if i have the money, why not? i don't blame you for not wanting to break your bike. i'd just have someone who knows how teach you how to do it. :)
as for bugs... i led a sheltered roach-life before coming here. and i thought i'd led a sheltered roach-life before parkview's monsters. if i move to malaysia, i'll have thought i led a sheltered roach-life here. do you have the LONG centipedes? with bigger body segments? my friend had a problem with those (inches long) in her house here in japan.

Well it was about two inches long, I'd say. I don't know about segments. I saw "large long bug with horrendously long wavy legs" and ran out of the room.

Can you take the bike and the parts to a bike shop? Find a cute guy and pout and ask if he would show you how to change them. I betcha he'll do it cheap, and you might get dinner out of it. :)

now THAT is an idea. that way you can learn how to do it, plus the other possible benefits. i like the way you think.

That defeats the purpose of getting the bike road-worthy, though... All I have otherwise during the day is my feet. I don't want to walk a flat-tired bike however far it is to a shop. :(

take the core out of the valve (or just deflate the tire completely), take the wheels off the bike, and the tire itself can be pried right out off of the wheel with a screwdriver (put some paper or something behind it so you don't scratch the wheel).
