Oh yeah, to explain this:

I imagine I'll have to start doing things like job interviews soon. Sadly enough, I do feel that the addition of makeup to my face makes a positive impact, exudes a more professional image, etc. I wish it weren't that way, but oh well. When done right (and I believe what I'm wearing now is done right, go me!) I feel pretty in it, too. I don't normally feel pretty - cute, good-looking, sexy even sometimes. Not pretty.

Okay, for one thing, you are pretty without makeup. so :P I've never even met you and I know that from pictures. That's not to say the makeup doesnt look good, it does. It is weird however that it's necessary to look "professional", but I've always thought ties were pretty strange too, so each sex has its goofiness in that regard...

Well thank you. :)

But I think we all know there's a difference between looking pretty and feeling pretty. :P

Ties are weird. I mean, why? What purpose do they serve? How did they evolve?

I totally agree, you are pretty - with or without the makeup. However, you are right about makeup giving you a more professional image. I don't know why it is, but even as a techie, you are viewed as more polished and more professional when you wear that crap.

Nice picture. I'm with [livejournal.com profile] ratbastrd. I think you're pretty without makeup on. But you do look good with it on. Through a nice power suit or something on and you'd look professional.

there's a difference between looking pretty and feeling pretty.

Very true. I know too many beautiful women who are convinced they are ugly, fat, whatever. *ptui* stupid self-worht nonsense. I wonder about our society sometimes...

As for ties, I think they were invented to make it faster and easier to hang lawyers.

I agree with everybody. :) You look older and more... finished. That's a word my mom uses that I hate, but it seems to fit.

I never cared for makeup on girls. I don't know if it makes you look more professional or not though, I can't tell. I haven't gone out with someone who wore makeup since high school, I just assumed it was one of those things that girls outgrow.

I just found a -sweet- maroon wool suit. Fits me great, except for a couple small things (which is why it's at the tailor's right now...!). I'm on my way to the top, baby...

Ooh. I've never heard anyone use "finished" in regards to looks. I like it. Do you hate it because you don't like its use, or because your mom always used it?

Perhaps it's one of those things that girls wear at work because they have to, but don't wear away from work...

I hate it because what second-grader wants to be told to wear a belt because it makes them look more finished?

I think it's a concept that has its place -- job interviews, dress-up occasions -- but also was overemphasized in my house when I was young. I did NOT need to wear a belt "to look finished" in second grade.

I think makep on a girl is only important when she's trying to hide the fact that she's really a man. Then it's cute.

Well, you know my feelings on make-up in general; not necessary but lots of fun.

I also, though, insist on putting my 'game face' on before work. Its not for everyone, but I find being physically 'flawless' gives me an extra boost of confidence when dealing with people who often are trying their hardest to look down on me so their own lives don't seem so meaningless.

Oh, you delete it by sending me your phone number, and a sexy picture of yourself.

Quickly.

I would first like to point out that I think you are pretty without makeup, but I do think that you look beautiful in that picture. It's a very nice pic.

When I end up back in the job market, I'm going to wear makeup, at least to interviews. It's hard to get taken seriously when you look as young as I do.

What's a girl your age doing with two babies anyways? Kids these days...

I think way back in the day, the French army started using neckties as a symbol of rank. Eventually the French public started wearing them for fashion purposes, fashionable males in other countries started wearing them, and today they are still worn with business attire as a symbol of power and respect.

I like you both ways, and you do look very professional with the makeup on.

I'm getting ready to splurge on some Mary Kay (one of my LJ friends sells it) in preparation for my upcoming jobhunt. I haven't worn makeup on a regular basis in a couple years and all I kave right now is some blush and a tube of lipstick.

yep! surprise! I think it's a study the military's running. they have little cameras following us around to see how we react when the pill fails. i wonder if they also poke holes in the condoms at the exchange...

I've heard of military bases getting supplied with shipments of pills which were unblanced with too many placebos before. Suddenly half the base is pregnant. Supposedly I have a relative that was born because of that. Trying to remember who...

Yeah, I dug up some old stage makeup after buying this stuff, but pretty much all that was usable was the lipstick. And I think it might be too dark...

Yeah. I guess that could happen to any pharmacy, but when the whole local population gets their pills from the same source, it shows.
