dervish and I were discussing whether god is/would be/whatever verb you want.. anyway, whether male or female. And the best answer is that god would not have to be forced into one of those roles, it's not an either/or question. Which led me to the conclusion:

god is a she-male.


Sorry if I offend, but if you're too serious to take that joke... I've probably already offended you enough already to drive you away!

My first thought was that god is everything around us, and so you could imagine that the natural objects in the world were god's accessories... so I'd say, yeah! Flowers and feathers and fur!

Well if you take the Biblical sense of God, it does describe God using both terms of mother and father. Most people refer to God as a "Him" simply because of tradition in our male-based world. So you do have some merit :op

that's what my preachers said when i asked them if god could be a woman when i was very young. they told me that god *could* be a woman, but they think it's a lot more complicated than that, and that we use "Him" because that's the traditional way to do things.

We need some kind of specific godly pronoun that is neither male nor female... and yet separate from "it", since that refers to worldly stuff... I guess I'll just do without pronouns until I figure god out ;)
