Well now the bleeping car might be totalled.

I need to go to the body shop to give them my keys and remove the rest of the stuff from my vehicle, in preparation for the insurance company coming to look at it. And no one is awake andor available to give me a ride except for family: mom is busy (mysteriously so), Deanna's at work, and Travis and Emily are going to call me back.

SIGH.

How can a not-possibly-more-than-20-mph collision total my car? True, I don't know much about cars, but that seems ridiculous.

If it bent the frame of your car that would cause it to be totalled. It would probably cost more than the car is worth to straighten the frame or fix any frame related items that have been damaged.

Well, that sucks. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Yea, a single bend in a frame could total it because *in theory* you're not supposed to weld to, heat, cut through, or drill a frame. Not to say everyone abides by the notes stamped into them but oh well.

Same thing happened to my first car, which wasn't insured, damnit. On the other hand it didn't cost me anything. Could you be getting a new car out of this? Small silver lining to an otherwise irritating cloud?

Heh insurance is required here in America... which is both a good and a bad thing.

They certainly won't give me enough money to get a new (to me) car without having to get a loan as well. However, I might get enough from them to pay off my credit cards, and that would be nice. I have a long post in my head that will be posted soon about all of this; I have to wait to hear what the verdict is, first.

Yeah, that sucks ass. I would take you to work if it didn't take me 17 hours to drive there. =) I hope you do get a new one though and not have to pay a lot for it.

Well remember, I drive for work ;) So you'd have to drive here and then let me use your car all night long! *grin*

We'll just have to see how things go, as far as new car... I will update with my musings on this as soon as I know what will happen with this car.

Are you awake at 9am? I generally assume no one in school will be unless they have to be (and are therefore in class)!
