The Parkview landlord sent us a voice message saying, "Do you have a cat in your apartment? If you do, you have to get rid of it now."
Which I take instead to mean I'm moving out ASAP.
Possible new places: Post Oak (Chataqua and HI-9), Brookhollow, anyplace owned by Elite Properties...
Although nowhere can I get rent as nice as I do here on campus. Oh well.

on 21 Oct 2002 14:42 (UTC)Now technically you could get evicted for having the cats, but it takes forever to file and proceed.
There's always the tried and true "my mother needed me to watch the cats for a couple of days" lie. It's perfect because the landlord knows you're lying and you knkow you're lying but the landlord knows that the courts wouldn't buy it.
I have three cats myself - only two of which are "approved".

on 21 Oct 2002 21:48 (UTC)These apartments are university-run, so it's not just a case of some lonely landlord filing charges against me. They can fuck with my schooling. I don't want that.

on 21 Oct 2002 17:26 (UTC)First offense is $15, second is $30, third is 'disciplinary process'.
I'm more curious as to how they "found out" being as it took so long.
Re: Bull
on 21 Oct 2002 21:47 (UTC)Yeah, you could argue that saying "We have the right to do this!" is just a scare tactic. But the point is, I won't be getting rid of the cats. And I really just want to avoid any hassle of this sense, and not have to worry about hiding the cats from the doors and windows for the next 7 months. So in the end, I assume I will have to move or get rid of them anyway, and I should do it now before ANY action gets taken in the first place.
