Corch is here, safe, alive, so far left alone by religious zealots...

...but he has been the subject of some verbal poking by two guys at Los Dos Amigos last night. One of them was wandering around the restaurant playing guitar and singing (doing all covers) (for tips, I suppose) and the other was the redneck sitting in the table across from ours. The redneck called the guitar player over and kept him there for about 5 songs, and then even got to play one himself. Corch was making stabbing motions with his fork most of the time. :)

In the middle of a Beatles' song that I faintly recognize (but is not one I know well enough to contribute to) the guitar player stops playing, turns around to face our table, and exclaims, "You didn't clap!" We look confusedly at each other, as the man is still in the middle of a song, and Corch hesitantly puts his hands together for a little applause. The guy says, "No, no..." and instructs us on the accompanying clapping rhythm part to the song. He is amazed that we don't know it, and he says, "Don't you guys know the Beatles?"

Corch, being the smartass he is, says, "We don't have the Beatles in Australia." From across the aisle, the redneck says, "That's bull, they came from over there!" Corch informs him that they were from England, not Australia, and the redneck says, "Well, aren't they both just right there next to each other?"

I consider it lucky that the guitar player started butting in asking his own questions about that time, or there would've been a big problem with that there redneck.

Perhaps to save the honor of the guy he's been getting money from, the guitar player starts asking Corch about where he's from, why he's here... all sorts of questions. Corch luckily did not get too rude or cocky :)

After this guy established that we wouldn't be joining him on the clapping, he turned back to the redneck's table and continued playing. As we were done with our dinner at that time, we got out of there.

And that's our story so far...

In personal news, I'm back at Papa John's for 10:30-4:00 today and tomorrow from 5-9. Whee!
