Well, that was a busier weekend than I intended. Although now I don't remember what I did Friday night, other than come home. I didn't go to the Dar Williams show. What DID I do? Hrm.

Saturday I woke up early to go to a thing I go to at 10 near Downtown Crossing. I was running a little late, but that was okay because when I got there, there was a fire alarm blaring, some fire trucks and DPW trucks on the road, a water pipe spewing water five feet into the air, and crowds of people evacuated out of buildings onto the street. Turns out someone busted into a water pipe, which flooded the basement of the building I was going to. Oops! So that was cancelled.

In a spurt of something I can't identify I walked one block over and went into a salon to get a manicure/pedicure. Yeah, weird, I don't get it either, but it's something I wanted to try. (This is partially due to the fact that I've been good lately about not biting my nails or my cuticles, and making them look pretty would be good reinforcement.) I have had two manicures before ever and no pedicures, so it was a bit of an adventure. But oh my word, I enjoyed every minute. I felt more like a traitor against classism than against feminism as I sat in a chair that massaged my back while a woman kneeled at my feet, washed and massaged them, and made them pretty. At least I paid her handsomely for it? It was very much a luxurious experience and I shall try it again sometime. And right now I do think my hands and feet look very pretty, even if the color I picked is perhaps a bit too bright fuchsia. >_>

Then I went to Brandeis to help playtest a small LARP. It was a lot of fun. I got to be horde and play some various interesting parts and win at most of them. Yay!

Afterwards [livejournal.com profile] londo and I hooked up with [livejournal.com profile] etherial and [livejournal.com profile] rosinavs, went to dinner, and all went to wait in line to see Into the Woods starring [livejournal.com profile] jmspencer. I had been planning all day to do this. We got on the wait list and waited. They started calling names, and it started looking bleak. They announced there were no group tickets any more, just individuals, and the folks with me got restless. They weren't as interested in seeing the musical if they couldn't sit next to each other, which I understand but am not the same way about. We heard the woman with tickets say there were two left and then my name was called, and I said, "Sorry we have four," and started walking away. They called another couple and then the woman said, "NOW I have two tickets left." So I said, "Wait a second, I just gave up my spot because you said there were only two and we have four but now you have four..." and they said, "Yeah, we DO have four, do you want them? They're yours," but at that point londo had already walked away almost out of the building. :/ So even though we could've had the last four seats in the house I had to give them up and not see the musical again like I wanted to do, which made me pretty unhappy for a while.

The group of us went back to londo's and my house and played some Race for the Galaxy and chatted a while until it was bedtime. Socialization is nice.

This morning I woke up and was talking to some online friends about campusfood.com. Talking to them about this made me hungry, so I began browsing, and learned about Genki Ya, a sushi restaurant in Brookline that I totally want to visit for lunch sometime. Highlights: option for brown or multigrain rice on your sushi; a fruit roll with mango, banana, and avocado; and a lunch special of three rolls, miso soup, salad, and fruit for $12. $12!!! Obviously I should hit them up at an 11am before-work nosh sometime. Anyone interested in joining me? Anyway, I meant to do so today, but...

...then I saw this. Poster is sick, giving away free Red Sox tickets. Hell yes! I called up [livejournal.com profile] nightskyre, [livejournal.com profile] etherial, and [livejournal.com profile] freerange_snark, the final of whom said, "Yes!" back. I ended up having to rent a Zipcar for an hour go to get the tickets from this woman's house, but that still makes the tickets cheap as hell. Plus, freerange_snark paid me back by buying me beer and peanuts at the game. We did get in there late, but we got to do the 7th inning stretch, sing "Sweet Caroline," and see David Ortiz hit a triple - zomg, a triple? - and Jonathan Papelbon close out the game. For as little as I follow baseball, I really enjoy going to games.

To avoid the crush on the T on the way home after the game, freerange_snark and I walked a bit to a bar that wasn't full of people and sat for a while drinking Guinness, talking, watching the Patriots, and talking. A nice unwind. Afterwards I got home and took a nap, then got back up for a while, and now I'm going back to bed. Good night!
