juldeaSo, Helen is awesome. She's nice, funny, and interesting, and totally an easy hand with hair. I got a shampoo and a slight trim - about one inch due to wintertime split ends. When we talked about how I do my hair, she didn't chastize me or look at me blankly when I said I didn't part my hair. (This has happened to me before.) She listened to how I do it (very minimalist, comb out tangles and go, no styling besides the occasional braid) and went with it. My hair feels soft and nice and looks good.
The downside: $35. The internet led me to believe this salon was on the cheap side, and for me, that'd be more like $20. I think maybe a men's wash-cut is about $20? Which is a crock, but ah well. Now I know. So I loved what I got, but for that price, I want a 15-minute scalp massage, too!
