juldea: (hold me!)

I spent the evening in the living room, watching the idiot tube and knitting. However, I was watching a new DVD of mine and an old VHS of londo's, so it was a good time.

First off: The Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark. This is the first release of The Film Crew, thems being Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy - possibly better known to you as Mike, Crow, and Tom from the final seasons of Mystery Science Theater 3000. They are back together and riffing movies. I bought this DVD at Comic Con but hadn't gotten around to watching it until tonight. I was a little wary because I had heard reviews that it wasn't any good, but I found myself pleased with their first offering. The mid-movie sketches need work; they fall flat compared to the heyday of MST. The movie itself, a '60s drama about the dealings around a strip club in Hollywood (featuring real stripping scenes, down to the pasties!) is either really horrible or suffering from bad editing by the Crew to fit the movie time, or both. However, the commentary itself was pretty excellent, with several laugh-out-loud lines. And they can make penis jokes now! All in all, I give it a solid B and have hopes for the upcoming releases.

After that, I watched londo's copy of The Wall: Live in Berlin, which I had never watched. I never knew Roger Waters was pretty hot (note: my data on this is 17 years old.) I really want to dress up as Cyndi Lauper from her performance there, hair and all. Van Morrison is weird looking. Roger Waters has some serious Freudian issues. However, good video.
