As many of you know, my cell phone/everything device (a Treo 650) has been partially broken for several months now, in that no audio is communicated unless I have a headset plugged into it. If I just hold the phone up and make a call, I can't hear you and you can't hear me. Well, something recently broke with the headset jack, and now things are even weirder - if I make a call with a headset plugged in, I can hear you, but you can't hear me. BUT if I then unplug the headset, the phone works as a handset - I can hear you and you can hear me. But it still doesn't work if I make or accept the call without a headset plugged in initially.
Well, this was just a bit too much hassle to deal with, so I researched replacement options. Turns out that if I bought the phone between 30-365 days ago, I can have it replaced for free! And luckily, I bought it on July 1, 2006. Talk about timing. So I called up the line, expecting to not actually reach a person at 11:30pm. Interestingly enough, I did, and I had one of the best customer service phone line experiences I've ever had. The person (Shiela, maybe?) was polite, quick, and didn't treat me like an idiot. She placed a call to my phone to verify the results, checked a few numbers and things, and set me up to receive a new phone between now and Monday. Hooray!
So right now I'm letting most calls go through to voicemail. Leave me a message there or send me a text or whatnot if you need me for anything.
