I'm blowing through David Eddings's The Malloreans saga like a tornado. I'm glad I borrowed all 5 of the books from Jason at once, I'm reading them faster than I visit him.
I got my letter from Chris Crouch today. I like him a lot :) He wrote me using the Saxon letterhead. It looks and sounds very formal, but I can almost hear exactly the corresponding words coming from his mouth. Now I can go to the library tomorrow and get a library card :)
Weird experiences over the past 24 hours. Jason came to town and we went to the dorm room of his friend Nick (Nick is an Orientation Leader, kind of like an RA, gets a really nice room) for revelry. Another one of their buddies, Dang, was in town too. We grouped up with Nick's neighbors and played a drinking card game called Asshole for a couple of hours. I was mainly knocking back cranberry juice and vodka concoctions - twice with a splash of orange juice, once with a splash of pink lemonade. The amounts of vodka could not be represented with the word "splash". Anyway, other than that I had a hard cider. While initially an observer, Jason joined in the game about the 3rd time around and had a hard cider or two! I was surprised. As much as I tease him about it, I'm totally cool with his non-alcohol-drinking-ness.
Anyway, I'm sure many of you understand the kind of evening I had (and I'm positive goldbug understands, because I called her on my cell and jabbered for a very long time. I remember one point where she told me I was repeating something I had said earlier. Oops.) :) At one point, however, Jason and I were sitting on the couch and he said, "We should talk tomorrow." Lemme tell ya, that's not a good thing to say to a drunken girlfriend.
After falling asleep on Nick's couch (and moving to his roommate's bed mid-morning when it emptied), I was actually awake at a reasonable-ish time. Before noon at least. I was... not at my best, but not bad. I drank a lot of water.
For a little while in the morning, Jason was kind of remote and quiet - he was in his cave. I kept quiet, finished my book, and listened to some music with him. I figured he was upset with me for something I did the night before, and he'd bring it up when the time came. Well, after Nick woke up and we ate, Jason was suddenly WONDERFUL - cuddly, kissy, very nice.
I was actually really confused and asked him when he was going to drop the bomb, and it turns out that I had blown the "we should talk tomorrow" comment completely out of proportion. He just meant, well, chat. Spend some time alone together. Nothing serious. :)
So I'm very happy. I had a fun night, got to relax and unwind, and spent some good time with my snugglebear. Whee for me :)
