I am red like a big apple... because I've been in one. THE one, I'd say. ;)

It was a good day to go sightseeing. It was really nice outside, and when we were on the ocean the breeze was wonderful.

We took a New York harbor cruise and saw Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and the skyline. Then we walked to "Ground Zero" (it was a lot bigger than I imagined). Took a bus up to the Empire State Building, went up top... I took so many pictures. The view was tremendous. We walked to Times Square (by this time it was night), took more pictures... ate at a Brazilian food place! It was delicious!!!

On the cruise and also at the Empire we were allowed to completely and totally skip to the front of lines because Adriana was in a wheelchair. That was SO COOL. Just wow.

I'm going back tomorrow. We only saw "south side" attractions, I need to go north now. :) I navigated the city better than Adriana or her friend Lisa, who both grew up here (sheesh), so I will do just fine. I think it's my destiny to be some kind of big-city navigator. It's just not hard for me.

Anyway... I know I will walk up 5th Ave. to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and spent (a lot of) time there. Then I will walk through Central Park, maybe to the Museum of Natural History, or by the zoo, or something. Maybe go by Carnegie Hall, and definitely through Rockefeller Center. There's only one problem.

Rent is playing. Like, the broadway version. The real version. I could go - there's a 2pm showing for $20. But... I don't know if I will have time. I'll be getting into Grand Central at 10:40, and I have to at least go by the Met (my sister-in-law wants me to get her something specific there), and I would like to walk through the park. Also, the rent website says that it's 2 hours and 40 minutes long... and I need to catch a 5:07 train back to Stamford. Arrrgh. Could I make it from Grand Central up 5th, to the Met, through the Park, to the right theater in 3 hours?

Oooh, and there's the TKTS booth. Offering discounts on same-day purchases of Broadway shows. And it opens at 11! Maybe I should head RIGHT there after getting into town, and see what I can get for the Rent show. If I can get really good seats for cheap, I'm in. Oh yeah. That's the plan. :)

I hope everyone else is having fun times...

wow, that is a dilemma. seeing rent on broadway is fantastic. simply wonderful. but is it worth shortening a visit to the met? i'm glad that's not a decision i have to make. i'm so jealous, though!

I didn't get to do either, actually. :( I did go to the Met, but only visited the gift shop (that took an hour probably!). And while I didn't see Rent, I did attend the rally that kicked off gay pride week. That was fun. :)

I can always go back, it's only as far as a trip from Norman to Dallas... just more expensive. =P
