today's activities
6 June 2002 02:18This morning (well, noon) I went to the club again for my Jump Start, which ended up being not really worth the 30 minutes I took, I was mainly told things I already knew. But, I did find out my exact target heart rate, and that's a good thing to know. I made my fitness assessment appointment for Friday at 12:30, so I'll learn more cool things then.
Then I went to an Urban Rebounding class, which is aerobics on a trampoline! Except you don't just bounce up and down, you resist the jumps... try and keep your upper body from bouncing and let your legs pump. It was damn hard. I had to often return to "basic bounce" to catch my breath. I'm finding that's a common occurrance for myself in these classes here - joining an expensive gym means most people are there to REALLY work, and many have done so for a while already. It's alternately inspiring and intimidating, and I hope it becomes more inspiring as I feel more results.
Oh, one thing there today amused me - one of the movies on in the cardio theater was Rushmore. I thought that was a weird pick.
I'm going to try that out tomorrow. Because of work and my time restrictions, there aren't really any classes I can make that I'm interested in. So I'm going to try out machines! The ellipticals look really interesting. I bought a pair of headphones today (well, Jason bought them for me, I'll pay him back when I get money) that wrap around your ears to stay on, so I will be able to plug in and listen to the movies as well as watch. :)
Oh yeah, so I went to see Jason this afternoon after my workout. I should've left earlier than 4 to avoid traffic, but at least I didn't leave later... ick. As it was it took me long enough to get there that he called my cell phone twice to see if I was okay - unfortunately I had loud music up and didn't hear. ;)
It was good to see him. I got to do my laundry (woo his parents rock), go shopping for headphones, love up his cats (Whiskers literally followed me around the house and rubbed up against me as much as possible), watch Rush Hour 2, eat mac 'n' cheese with chicken, and get smooches and cuddles. I even took a small nap while he did something online that was important and could not wait. ;)
While I was driving back to the city (after midnight), it started to slightly rain. Then, all of the sudden, slapslapslapslapslap I'm in the middle of a torrent. It was the freakiest weather experience of my life. Scared me to death. It calmed down as I drove into the city, but sadly it was still raining when I arrived. The back guest parking was full, so I had to park down the street in the "Allston-Brighton Visitor Parking" zone. I left my dry laundry in the car and just walked up in the rain - I'll bring it in tomorrow when it's dry. If it's dry.
The Mass. Cerebral Palsey institute is being dumb about getting all of Adriana's aides (including me) our latest checks. They just switched timesheet formats, and somehow that means that WE have to wait an extra week to get paid, even though we turned things in on time. Bah. Well, at least when it comes in, it'll be about $300! For so little work! I am so happy with this setup.
Speaking of work, it's 2:30am, and I have to be up at 8:30. Oops.
More about my visit with Jason...
I figured that doing this kind of link for the more objectionable matter is much nicer, because LJ cuts are still visible to those who read comments. Aren't I nice?? :)
