I have officially begun on the Eris pullover commissioned by [livejournal.com profile] chaiya. Woo!

I'm taking this one seriously. I did three different swatches on Monday night while [livejournal.com profile] londo and [livejournal.com profile] etherial played V:TES. Figured out which needle sizes to use for the parts done flat and the parts done on circulars.

For the record, this pattern is INSANE. Ask [livejournal.com profile] tpau; I showed it to her last night. Since there's nine different sizes represented in the pattern, a single instruction will have one, three (S/M/L), or nine different variations. And the cable charts are all separated out and combined in different orders depending on what size you're making. Wow! That said, it looks like a lot of fun, and about the time I will tire of the cabling the stockinette kicks in. Heh.

I started on the train this morning, and I have, uhm, eight rows done. Hee. More at lunch, and then on the bus home, and then...

:)

For the record, if you need to ship a package quickish and cheaply, it turns out that Greyhound PackageXpress is the way to go. My duffle-bag-full-of-laundry was put on a bus out of OKC on Monday evening and should be arriving here in Boston tonight - for $33 (which my brother is paying.) Woo hoo!

I was able to knit more during lunch. Short rows inside a cable pattern are fun! I now have about four inches of the collar done. (The sweater is knit as such: around the neck, then down the body, then sleeves.)

[livejournal.com profile] siderea has written a wonderful memo to anyone who uses the phrase, "I'm a Christian, but..." It's enjoyable (and quick!) reading for those who don't use that phrase, too.

I pulled myself away from the Eris to upload these pictures of the scarf I finished for my brother in time for Christmas - I've been working on it for FOREVER it seems! But the end product turned out to be worth it. When he unwrapped it he thought it was store-bought - flattering! Although anyone who pays more attention can easily tell it's not, what with the crookedness of the hems and such. But no matter. It IS almost an exact replica - unintentional I swear! - of one of the scarves you can find at Everton's online store (look under Souvenirs for scarves, not Accessories as most of us would assume.)

There are six shots of the scarf, so rather than spam you up one by one, I'll just link you to the gallery.

Now back to Eris for a few minutes before bed. ;)
