It was part of my list of things to do during this two weeks, so I've done it: tried on and surveyed my current pantyhose options. Only one had a run, and that was small, near the toe, and easily fixed with nail polish.

iridescent lavender kneehighs
purple tights
green tights
navy tights
silver sparkly tights!
black tights
black rose-print tights
navy/green/wine argyle tights
reinforced-toe ivory pantyhose
reinforced-toe tanner-than-I'll-ever-be pantyhose
sheer-toe charcoal grey pantyhose
sheer-toe ivory pantyhose
sheer-toe tanner-than-I'll-ever-be pantyhose with lace fake-garter detail

You know, for someone who doesn't wear skirts often, I've grown quite a collection of pantyhose over the years. The last ones I remember buying were the purple tights, bought sometime in the past three years for wearing with my crazy purple dress. Amusingly, the pantyhose that remain are almost all cheap Walmart-type brands (Hanes, etc), while the Victoria's Secret pairs I remember buying on sale but still for horribly expensive got runs in them rather quickly. Do they suck more, or did I wear them more and subject them to cat claws? I don't know.

Maybe I should wear skirts more often. Some of those tights have never seen the outside world. Including the silver sparkly ones, and that's just a crime.

To sum up this experiment, I have several pairs of useful interview pantyhose. Yay!

I asked the FlightAttendants.org forum what ACA would do at an interview that took 6 hours, and here's a response I got:

I guess it's kinda long... )

Interesting.

I just finished The Subtle Knife. Pullman really knows how to build a trilogy.

Think of the quintessential Trilogies out there. Star Wars, LotR, even Dragonlance counts. Book 1 ends with the winning of a minor battle, a call to arms, the characters making resolutions to Set Out and Do Something. Then you get book 2, and at the end there's just depression and despair. Someone's dead or injured, everyone's split up, the goal is out of focus, hope is hard to come by... How in the world will they ever get through this, Mr. Frodo?!

Subtle Knife was much better than Golden Compass. Now I'm going to go right into Amber Spyglass because I am on the edge of my seat. I pity those who had to wait three years between the books originally.

I'll leave you with this: "There are two great powers," the man said, "and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

Makeup takes <10min to apply. And I suppose it does make me look more professional or grownup or something. Ah well, I just wanted to know that I could still do it, and I can.
